The Penguins ended up with a goalie interference penalty after Brian Dumoulin scored, but was said to have made contact with Frederik Andersen.

  1. No on pushed anyone into him he made contact with the goalie which is goalie interference and its about time the reffs called something because not only with the leafs but a lot of other teams have been shafted with these non goalie interference calls.

  2. the elbow to Anderson's head spins his body to the right causing his right skate blade to kick the puck over the line – the puck does NOT go in without the elbow to the head – one of the greatest goaltender interference calls i ever seen

  3. this bs the refs are doing better not carry into the playoffs. it can be a reason why a deserving team could lose. smh

  4. I think Bettman was right about there being inconsistentsy in the ref's calls this year. I don't think Andersen would of saved it even if he didn't get hit in the head

  5. Its funny, i dont really recall there being an issue with goalie interference til this season….Refs need to stop overthinking every call…tbh that didnt seem like a good call to me

  6. Don't worry Pens it will made up to you by you being a weak ass division, and getting an easier first round opponent.

  7. garbage call! scared going into the playoffs watching hockey. Not a fan of these teams, but this goal is brutal! Ref should have talked it over with his officiating group. He better not be reffing any playoff games and his supervisor better have a talk with him!

  8. Great call. Finally the call that goes against the leafs all season they get one their way. But it takes a skate off pad and elbow to the head of Andersen. Ref pissed off because Pittsburgh has been running goalies all season. They have good players they need to learn how to shoot the puck in not shoot the goalie in lol. GOOD CALL refs, can't let them keep getting away with that. That's how goalies get hurt. The defenceman that tries to push him completely misses him, you can see the hand slide over his back and Pittsburgh player tries to sell it and gets caught. Either embellishment or goalie interference

  9. What's this, like the second time in 5 years the Pens have gotten a bad call? Jeez, welcome back to reality with the rest of us lol.

  10. I' can't even see the interference here. Dumolin had a little contact to Anderson but it didn't have an affect on save.

  11. I think the difference between the two Anderson interference incidents whether or not he was in the crease. in the first incident Anderson was on the very edge of the crease, while he was definitely in the crease in this latest one. There is still some inconsistency with the calls that need to be figured out by the refs, but this call makes sense.

  12. This was a goal and a coach should keep telling his players in practice to do exactly what Dumoulin did to go strong to the net, avoid contact, and finish. It's a goal 100/100 times in my book and the NHL rule book, but the refs saw it differently. One of the prettier goals you will see all around but especially from a defenseman wiped out. It reminds me of the what is a catch in the NFL rule. Now players will have this etched into the back of their mind the rest of their careers. The real takeaway is if a player is ever beat by his guy or someone gets behind him, just shove him into your goalie and you will get goalie interference. The double whammy comes as it was called a penalty and not challengeable which goes against why there is replay. The game goes at an incredibly fast speed so calls like these is where replay is needed. It actually looks like Andersen punches Dumoulin as he comes by and the entire game Andersen was coming out of the crease initiating contact and flopping. The no goal cost the Pens at least 1 point in the standings and possibly 2 points as it would have been tied 3-3 towards the end of the game. This has the potential to affect the standings and playoff seedings. The scary part is it's so close to the playoffs and they still haven't figured things like this out yet.

  13. If a goalie can get a stick broken over his face and the goal counts, why should a player get pushed into the goalie and have the goal not count?

  14. Regardless of what you think about the call, I think it has to be said that there have been way worse infractions than this called goals. (Neal being probably the most egregious). There's just zero consistency

I'm looking forward to playoffs this year due to the sheer quality of teams, but I'm afraid that a team is going to have their dreams crushed by an offside or goalie interference call

  15. Y'all realize he hit Anderson's head. Contact with the goalie head in the crease is an automatic penalty. Idiots

  16. The problem with goalie interference is because everyone has their own individual opinion on what it is and isn’t.

  17. O'Halloran doesn't like certain teams for sure. I was happy to hear he would be retiring after the 2020 season.
Refs definitely have a strong dislike for certain teams.
