Craig Button Elias Pettersson’s struggles, Brock Boeser and more
TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joined the guys and talked about what he is seeing from Elias Pettersson and what the Canucks should do with Brock Boeser.
They’re not playing great this season. Everyone except hughes should be on the table now. When you watch the top teams play it’s like we don’t even belong in the league in comparison.
I agree with Craig Button's comments. EP40 is just a very immature young man who is in way over his head. He's a good hockey player when he's on his game, but right now it's not happening. Unfortunately Canucks management made a huge mistake and decided to give him $11.6 million in the hopes that Petey would turn into a franchise superstar like Mackinnon, McDavid, Matthews, Ovechkin and the other other Top Superstars. The sad reality is that Petey has proved he is just not at that elite level. I doubt he ever will be. The best thing now is for Petey and Canucks to cancel the big contract and go back to Square One. Start him all over as a regular NHL player, with a regular contract like the other guys. Cut it back to around $6.5 million, which is much more realistic, and takes all the pressure off, and opens up trade possibilities. Then he'll have the opportunity to turn it around and prove he's worth more in the future. The fans deserve a lot more.
Petey is everything a Canadian hockey player is NOT…physically weak, mentally weak, fragile, hesitant, soft, heartless, spineless, unaccountable, disrespectful….I've despised this little child ever since he's come here….he cares more about gaming and relaxing all summer long rather than training to become an elite player….he is an absolute pathetic disappointment
Pettersson needs a new team. Tocchet’s system and Petey don’t work well at all. Selling low I know isn’t good but this sucks for everyone now. Enough already!
If this team A) Will give up on a player so quickly after they have showed up day in day out B) can't find a way to put a 'proven' star back into a position to be successful. C)Trades every player they sign within a year. This organization is just toast. Just running every problem out of town instead of holding some accountability and helping solve the problem.
This is on the coaching staff, management and ownership as much as it is on the players. Pinning this teams lack of success on just one player who is recovering from injury and not performing to their contract(when they were out performing their contract for years I might add) is just asinine. And the media doing so should really give their head a shake.
I'd rather watch a 15 goal scorer earning 3 million a yr, than a flakey "Superstar" who could get 35 goals and 60 assists! Yippiee It's called a waste of money folks!!!!!
Even in his best years, he's never strong on his skates when going in the corners and constantly falling on his ass. At 1st I thought, he is a young player and he will get bigger/stronger over time but I would bet that the issue is largely his training regimen in the off-season imo.
He’s past the point where he can flip off questions from the media and getting to the point where the media will stop talking to him and only ask management when he is going to be sold
Was his comment aimed at Ian M. or at the media in general? It was not a personal attack for sure. The media today is to a large extent made up of non professionals looking for as many clicks at possible getting what they look for from quantity not quality. Petey has all the right to express his opinion and if You think that media today is so angel-like then please think again. I have as of yet to see a well thought out article about Petey during his time in Vancouver. Then You go om with the claim he is not doing his best, he is not trying hard enough. You are getting agitated. Raising Your voice. He has a dream life, he makes 11,6 million (which is far from the truth). How do You know? You know him personally? You think money buys happiness and or health?
Boeser is low impact/ invisible every night until the moment he’s set up for a tap in. Not saying he’s the only one like this (Debrusk), but don’t re sign another

Boeser has been a dud since Miller left, too slow to play alongside O'Connor and Chytil, pending UFA to me no brainer.
trade boeser

Petey needs to stop skipping leg days
for us Canadians, that's over $16,000,000 per year.

You keep Petey, you move Brock.
Dump Petey, Brock and Demko…then the house cleaning and excuses should be over.

Craig Button sucked as a general manager don’t listen to this moron do the opposite of what he says
