Coming from a super puck possession less offensive system going to a more Offensive style and Necas has just been getting better each year anyone watching g last. Wasn’t Dury Carolina’s top prospect last year making the show full time producing sure this year slight regression but more responsibility. Will it replace Rant’s production pt for pt probably not, two younger contracts for less though adding pick possession forwards the complement players already on the roster.
Here's something that people are forgetting when they analyze the trade. Carolina now has a stronger and deeper group at forward, their D is among the best in the league, but their goaltending worries me. I have ZERO confidence in Frederik Andersen from having seen him play in Toronto and Kotchetkov is young and inexperienced and may not be able to handle the job. So unless they add a goalie, I'm not ready to crown them the champs just yet.
I hate the trade. Nothing against Necas but I just won't ever understand how you couldn't find another way to keep Mikko. Especially after he said he was willing to take a discount. No easy answer but I don't like it
So many people are underestimating him because of his numbers as a Hurricane. His speed and skill will pair so well with MacKinnon. He was too fast here with the Canes; no one could keep up with him. The Avs know this and I fully expect him to be a consistent 100-point guy in Colorado.
Watch mikkos numbers dip now that he’s not on the mackinnon line. The guy doesn’t create chances for himself, he’s purely a scorer, not a playmaker, he’s not physical, and he can’t defend. You’re overvaluing mikko
I tend to think he’s undervaluing Necas. I’m not going to say Necas is better than Rantanen, that would be dumb. But they have very different games and I’ll say that having him on the ice at the same time as MacKinnon where they’re both coming down ice attacking with speed gives them an entirely different dynamic than what they had with Rantanen. Mikko commanded respect when he had the puck obviously but for different reasons. Necas demands respect for his speed and it causes guys to either back off so he can walk in, or collapse on him so he can find MacKinnon. It’s been a blast to watch so far as an Avs fan
Avs won this trade all day long. Necas AND Drury look good already. With more chemistry, Necas will get even better. Carolina just wanted Rantanen because they are building the NHL’s first Team Finland

This is a strange take! I've watched every game since the trade, Necas is really good. He's stepping on Mac's toes a little, but that will sort out. He's hit i think 5 posts since the trade. A few millimeters and he would have 6 goals. Even without that he's been really good. I've also been watching the Canes highlights – and Rants doesn't look like much. I think the Avs made out better in this trade.

Sorry, this guy is talking a complete nonsense. If you count the points of Nečas and look at the ice time in Carolina, he is clearly underevaluated. Necas was behind the title of Czech National team on IIHF Worlds this year.
I don’t think this will age well. Already it seems like Neccas is fitting right in. Rantanen thrives with McKinnon because Mac did most of the work and Rantanen could just hang out at the circle waiting to get a pass. Rantanen with Mac and Makar is awesome but I’m not so sure he will fit in as well in Carolina. We will see.
Rants will fire his agent and hopefully see the error of his ways and maybe take an even lesser value to come back to the Avs. Either way we got a great player who has speed and skill to match nate and cale. Hey a guy can dream.

They might have bought high in necessity but they will still have cap room to make another big move.
