  1. Huberdeau gives a damn. Petterson is soft, pouty, and doesn't give a damn. No. Never. Huberdeau is not a coach killer, he's a good teammate, and he's having a good season. He needs a finisher, like Zach Hyman. I know those don't grow on trees. But here's the thing. Huberdeau isn't the problem. The Tkachuk deal isn't the problem.

The problem is the disgraceful mismanagement of Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan. Just truly stupid.

No to Petterson under any circumstances, and definitely not for Hubey.

  2. He didnt say it was the medias fault, what he said was that it was harder to deal with the media than with his bad play/lack of confidence. He that a great statement, no, but I think he knows he isnt playing great and the media telling him so isnt helping

  3. Performance-based pay should be a thing. These mega contracts just kill the motivation of lesser players. Weeeee I’m a millionaire! Who cares if I win? I’ve already won!
    It’s crap.

  4. Tbf the Canucks only got 8 shots after 2 periods last night. The whole offense is dysfunctional and that falls on the coach more than the star players' shoulders at this point.

  5. Petterson is awful.. He was real bad in four nations!! I don't think he should be on the Olympic team

  6. The canucks need a centre with some heart, leadership, goal scoring, and at a manageable price point for a top line player. Maybe 8-9 million x 5 years.

Now if they had that, it would be a lot less pain to trade "petey"

  7. When Pettersson entered the league I saw a potential Hall of Fame player. Now I see a useless dud. He quit on his team, the fans and the city. Quit on himself but is too self centered to know that at this point.

  8. I'm a Canucks fan and Frank Seravali is 100% right. Petterson is a disaster for Canucks right now. There is not even a glimmer of signs that this guy is worth $11.6 million, now or in the future. There is no "different" Petterson. This guy has reached his peak and this is what you get. 'Soft as puppy-poo" is unfortunately right, and the fans deserve a hell of a lot better.

  9. When your team has the lowest shot totals in the league and the only players playing well are the goaltenders and Quinn Hughes – there's a bigger problem — it's coaching!! Tocchet and Foote were great, hard-nosed NHL players 30 years ago, but that doesn't make them good coaches! If that was the case, then every NHL player to coach would win a cup! The Miller situation got exasperated when he got frustrated with losing and playing a non-competitive style of hockey. Every Canuck forward is struggling to score. Much like Tocchet's record and style of play in Arizona, this team is too focused on defense, too passive without the puck causing this team to struggle offensively and sucking the confidence out of their skilled players! If Petterson ends up in Carolina or Colorado he will light it up! He had great offensive numbers under Boudreau who played an attacking brand of hockey!

  10. How many times do the Canucks go down this road with overpaid underperforming Swedes? You can't tell me there aren't any home grown players who couldn't perform much better at a fraction of the cost. Pettersson was useless even on Team Ikea!

  11. EP40 is living his nightmare. Signs the big $, drops off the stats map. Controversy on the team? Trade the other guy. GM calls him out? Continues to fail. 4 nations? No show. That was for his country! Now that trade window is like the drop of doom underneath him.

  12. He’s acting like a child.

As a guy from Vancouver Frank we LOVE you !!

Petterson has done this to himself

  13. EP40 exemplifies everything a Canadian hockey player is NOT…..physically weak, mentally weak, soft, tentative, immature, disrespectful, unaccountable, heartless, gutless, spineless….this is why i can't stand this POS

  14. Huberdeau for Pettersen….potential #1 center for no real cost. But with Huberdeau's rise which I knew would happen I am doubting this would in fact be good trade.

  15. Fans will be leaving this franchise soon enough
This nightmare will never end with Pettersson..He is the teams headache

  16. What a difference a year makes for the Canucks… last year, an exciting dynamic team that was fun to watch. Fast break outs, offensive creativity, and yet solid defensive play… this year, dump and chase, slow the game down, try to win 2-1… and yeah, pretty low event hockey, boring, and not effective. Of course a big part of that downfall is Pettersson.

  17. It's so bad at his point that you don't even see EP40 fans coming out and defending him anymore ! They've run out of excuses for him !😅

  18. A few weeks ago I was hoping the Canucks could have gotten Cozens and Byram from Buffalo for Pettersson or maybe even Owen Power. Now I think we would be lucky to get Cozens on his own.

  19. As a Canucks fan I don't see a likely scenario where management moves on from EP40 by the March 7th deadline because of the players recent decline; the July deadline is more viable – if he shows any signs of recovery in his play through the end of this season making his stock rise.

Barring any improvement, I expect Canucks management would likely just wait and hope for a better season from Pettersson next season.
Of course if at any time another GM believes that EP is 'fixable' and that they are the team that could do it (and believe the time is right to get Pettersson for a 'steal') then all bets are off.

  20. As a Canucks fan, I really disliked Petterson's stoic demeanor when he 1st came to Vancouver. Which hasn't changed. There is something wrong with a guy who has absolutely no passion when it comes to hockey. I'd be happy for an aging Crosby or someone else good with little to no upside, other than what they can do for the rest of the season. My biggest advised the Canucks organization: Stop shopping at Ikea and buy local.
