Pucks with Haggs host and guest Mick Colageo look at the Bruins rookie camp roster that doesn’t include Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov, arguably their two biggest prospects.

Love you guys. Looking forward to training camp reports.
Mick is the best
My new go to podcast for my spoke B. News!
Please guys the phones itâs every episode.
Fact about 911, and 3 players from the rookie roster, they play for Moncton, also where Brad played, but the rink in which they used to play got transformed into a living quarters for people who were effected and needed help, Iâm sure tons of places helped obviously, but just a interesting idea they name the roster, and boom 3 wildcats on the roster, 3 guys currently playing for a team that lent a hand in a very much dark day đ
Kirk, Evan, and you guys are the goto for reliable good info but as a 26 year old I love micks history lessons hahaha, donât agree with everything he says of course but thatâs whatâs great about opinions we all have on haha, keep up the shows canât wait for the season to start and have you guys talking about meaningful points and games
Loke, is going to have a big year this year in the Q, kinda hoping they sign vidicek to a amateur contract of some sort, but heâs a 120-130 point guy this year in the Q could bloom like brazeau, and I mean warren, doesnât start in the Q so Iâm not too sure how heâll look, but heâll be taking the reins next year and he does play more game than your average backup in the q, could see him possibly playing in a farm system for us in 4-5 years but donât think will see to much out of him, but big weekend for Harrison, kuntsr,Duran, farinacci, cibulka, few other guys too for there AHL sake are there many if any superstars? No but to say itâs a shitty prospect system is just unintelligent
I love the old Garden scoreboard.
There isnât too much to get excited about in terms of the roster the Bruins are icing for rookie camp
The forward and defense group all fall into one of two categories:
Group One:
Mid to Late Round 3rd – 7th round forward and d-men with the forward group prospects that project as possible NHLers such as Farinacci, Kuntar, Duran and Harrison all projecting as bottom 6 players at their ceilings and d-men such as Jackson Edward, Frederic Brunet and Loke Johansson all projecting as bottom of the roster, #6-#8 D-men at their ceilings
Group Two:
Worthless invitees that are just bodies, that have zero shot at probably even AHL jobs, let alone NHL ones
Itâs obvious why players such as Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov arenât participating in rookie camp
First and foremost, most NHL rookie camps feature primarily 18-22 year olds with limited to no AHL experience thus a player like Georgii Merkulov wouldnât be at any NHLâs rookie camp as heâs 23 and has played multiple seasons in the AHL already. And guys like Gasseau, Letourneau, Jelvik, etc… not being eligible because they are playing in the NCAA
In terms of Fabian Lysell, the Bruins obviously want to see him against real NHLâs and they obviously wouldnât also donât want to risk his being injured playing against this much lower level of competition. Like Merkulov, Lysell will only be attending the Bruins big club training camp
Hopefully the more recently drafted crop of 3rd to 7th round forwards and d-men drafted since 2019 turn out to be something far greater than the garbage Don Sweeney produced at forward and defense in Rounds 3-7 from 2015-2018, the first four drafts he ran as General manager
NHL Games Played Leader at Defense
Drafted by Don Sweeney Rounds 3-7, 2015-2019:
NO ONE!!!
Not a single D-Man drafted in rounds 3-7 drafted by Don Sweeney from 2015-2019 has played an NHL shift
We can also expand that to drafts 2019-2024, as not a single D-Man (or Forward for that), drafted in rounds 3-7 from 2019-2024 has played a single shift in the NHL to date
NHL Games Played Leader at Forward:
Drafted by Don Sweeney Rounds 3-7, 2015-2019:
Jacob Lauko (83 NHL games): No longer with Boston. 4th liner that was often benched
Oscar Steen (60 NHL games): No longer in the NHL. Never a real NHLer
Jonna Koppanen (5 NHL games) No longer in the NHL. Never a real NHLer
What has Don Sweeney produced at forward from rounds 3-7 from 2019-2024, so in other words, has it gotten better in recent years?
Um nope, as again, not single forward Don Sweeney has drafted from rounds 3-7 from 2019-224 has played a single NHL shift to date and neither as any 3rd to 7th round d-man taken from 2019-2024
So before Bruins homers all say guys like Kuntar, Farinacci, Harrison, Duran, Brunet and Edward are all future NHLersâŠ.
What are you basing that on because Don Sweeney has had ZERO real positive impact drafting any forward or d-man in rounds 3 through 7 since the day he took over as GM
So Homers, you canât possibly be saying those guys are going to make it based on Don Sweeneyâs own draft history of forwards and d-men in rounds 3-7
Two, the history of NHL draft picks in rounds 3-7, which say historically, less than 12% of these guys well have real NHL careers (100+ games and or 5+ years) and that 12% drops off a cliff once you get past the 3rd round
Also, please donât talk to me about the greatest 3rd to 7th round draft pick in either Boston Bruins or NHL history.
Why homers?
Because weâre talking about Don Sweeney and his result as GM, thatâs why some excuse youâll try to use such as âlook at a hall of fame guy like Marchand who drafted in a later round… blah blah blah. TrueâŠ
Also true, not drafted by Don Sweeney, soâŠ
Don Sweeney has drafted 37, 3rd – 7th round players since 2015. ZERO NHL shifts by any of the d-men and the games played leader at forward was Jabob Lauko, whose no longer in Boston
Iâll concede at least Kuntar looks like a real NHL player as do Duran, Farinacci and Harrison (potentially) but all of these guys, at their ceilings, are low offense, bottom 6 pests, grinders, PK or face off guys
As for Brunet and Edward, both too look like real guys but one, both are still two or more years away, two, both were late round picks that have a low chance of being real NHLers to begin with and three, both have too many warts to expect either to become anything more than bottom of the roster NHL d-men, which is what the NHL scouting community said about both should either hit their ceilings, the key there, âhitâ those ceilings
And before homers go to the, âSwaymanâ was drafted in the 4th round
One, true and Sweeney deserves credit for the pick. Heâs an NHL GM. He should hit on guys
Two, about 85%+ of starting NHL goalies are mid to late round picks or un-draftred UFAs
Proof? Even the recent 2024 draft
Total Number of 1st round goalies? ZERO
2nd round goalies? Four
3rd-7th round goalies? NINETEEN!!!
Jeremy Swayman was drafted where he was projected to be drafted and like most NHL starting goalies, he was drafted in a late round.
So homers, donât start in with the narrative that Swayman was a 1st round talent they found in the 4th round. Um nope, he was a goalie that got drafted exactly where he was expected to.
Again great pick but Swayman is the only thing Sweeney had added to the Bruins from the 3rd – 7th round since 2015 and across the course of10 drafts
Anyone trying to spin, that hitting on one real NHL player in rounds 3-7, across close to 40 picks, across 10 NHL drafts is âgoodâ….
Thatâd be nothing short of nonsense based on nothing but actual HISTORY!!, so Don Sweeneyâs RESULTS!!! In the 3rd to 7th round which have been TERRIBLE!!!!
NO NHL D-men
No real NHL forward with the only real guy being an inconsistent 4th liner no longer with the team in Jacob Lauko
Vladr: NHL backup goalie (so not terrible but what is he and again, no longer in Boston)
Swayman: Home run but again, the only 3rd to 7th round pick by Don Sweeney over 10 draft years to actually be a real, impact, NHL player. ONE GUY!!! IN TEN YEARS!!!!
Sorry homers, thatâs not good drafting or developing from rounds 3-7 in 10 years, not even close and again, that's not an OPINION, itâs just Don Sweeneyâs RESULTS!!!
You can look therm up. I'm not lying. See link. Do your own research đ
