  1. Thanks for the video! Great info, details, and insights! Sad news for Hughes. I find it hard to believe that Jones is moveable without eating a large portion of his contract. I think he fits well on the Blackhawks as a veteran influence and fairly solid D-man but I don't think that makes him attractive to trade suitors. Given the rising cap and the current situation for the Blackhawks, I think his best chance at going to the post-season and even winning a Cup is in Chicago. There's no doubt the Blackhawks intend to contend in the next two or three years and onward and Jones's contract goes through 29-30, so why would he think about leaving after sticking it out through the first handful of rebuilding years? Very short-sighted. Looking forward to the weekend but good luck tonight to Canada as I cheer for the USA!

  2. I'm afraid even the worst GMs in the league wouldn't give up much to get Seth Jones, at least not as much as Chicago would want in return.

  3. I just hope the NHL doesn't feel that the success of the 4 Nations tournament is due to the quantity of commercials it ran.

  4. I'm just happy the four nations is going to be over after tonight. The Sidney Crosby ass kissing has been absolutely insufferable for all non-Canadian/Penguins fans. Probably even more so than what it's been for all of his career, and that's saying something. Hopefully USA wins, just so it doesn't get any worse, because you already know that if Canada wins, Canadian people are going to make it all about Crosby, and nobody else in the team did anything at all. Just like in the Olympics and the Penguins Stanley Cup wins. It's like the Maple Leafs media attention, only worse and completely zeroed in on one person.

  5. Seth put himself in this situation when he willingly accepted a trade to and then signed with a team already headed to a rebuild.

  6. Mike Lange is a Pittsburgh icon, much like Myron Cope. The man was loved and is cherished.
    HEEE SHOOTS and scores.

  7. No one wants a 9million dollar dman thats worse than Darnell Nurse, most over hyped over rated player in the history of the NHL.Looking back he is not even a first round talent and they were pushing him ahead of big mac?!?
    Never made sense.
Ya NHL has always had a serious case of white savior complex.

  8. I’d only trade Jones if we can move the whole contract without retention. And since that’s not happening, we’re stuck with him,

  9. Did you hear about the passing of Mike Lange, the legendary voice of the Penguins? Have you ever done any videos about announcers in the NHL that have an impact on the game?

  10. I have one brother who puts political talk into everything, hates on things just because they don't align with his beliefs, is definitely not a "live and let live" kind of guy. He has, for 5 years, attacked my knowledge about things political, and it drives me nuts. When I talk to other family members we laugh and joke and so on. Him, unless I can keep him talking football, always has to make people angry…then blame them. Yes, I heard your latest podcast.

  11. Seth Jones is a top 4 defensemen 9.5. Mil for 5 years is the going rate for a defensemen on a good team . He just happens to be on a rebuilding team . The Hawks might take .25% which is 11.9 mil for 5 years but not 23.9 mil for 5 years .Dallas , CBJ, OTT, DET, will call.

  12. Well, for everyone that thinks the 4 nations thing will continue you can forget it. The owners in the playoff hunt are going to realize how many players can get hurt and be done. No one gets hurt at the All-Star game…..

  13. Lets say chi trades jones thats a 9.5aav contract full ntc. Thats more money they need to reach the floor unless they retain 50% right so 4.75. Does chicago somehow get multiple players to sign there in free agency, what if and i hate this but they offer rantanen 8x18aav does he say no? What about boeser 8×11. Obvious over pays but how else they gonna get that kind of talent and reach the floor or become competitive in the next decade?

  14. No team would want to take Jones contract. He’s a liability for the Hawks and any team that gets him. Also the Hawks will not retain salary. Especially for a contract that expires in 2030 with 9 million.

  15. Apparently, the 4 Nations is considered a big deal for the players and seemingly, most fans. I think it is a moderately big deal, but clearly below the Winter Olympics.

  16. I think we wanna hang on to Seth Jones for the rest of this season. Hes the Tank Comander thats gonna lead the hawks to another top 3 overall draft pick

  17. If Seth is serious, he should sign an extension with Chicago for a few million per, that way a team would have reason to want his contract. As it stands, he's not worth the money he's paid, and Chicago has no reason to trade him and swallow his contract to make him happy.

  18. Rare time, seen you in my Blackhawks sweater. You are OUR HOCKEY Guy and CHI is my team; feels odd. We MUST move Jones/AWFUL contract; eat some salary and a pick. GM POWER RANKING last 25 years. (STAN BOWMAN overrated!/TALLON underrated.) Which teams won out on drafts/moves? Sorry to put that insane project in your mind, my friend. As always LOVE the Channel! (Patrick in CHICAGO)

  19. Hard to believe we got a month and a bit to go. This year has gone fast. To bad the Canucks will not make it past second round.
