I’ve never seen a goalie do this

Stolarz of the Maple Leafs has been absolutely on one, and tonight he made a save with his bare hand! We’ll cover all that and more on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. A hand for 1 save is pretty risky for someone who needs hands for their job.

  2. It sure looked like Stolarz might have pulled that puck over the line. When he grabbed it with his bare hand and then maneuvered it up and around his hip, it seemed almost like he carried it into the goal and then out. It’s such a close call, and if they didn't video-review that play, they might have missed something critical. Plays like these show how tight the margins are and how even a fraction of movement can impact the outcome.

  3. As a guy who played goalie when I was younger I can tell you that even just losing your stick and picking up the puck with your blocker glove on is dangerous enough. Getting cut by a skate blade would be terrible but those stick blades can do a lot of damage too. I was lucky to not seriously experience this happening but played with a guy that took a hit to the hand this way. Even though he was fortunate and nothing was broken he literally still couldn't move his hand for a week and was out of playing action for nearly a month due to tendon damage.

  4. Ever since he was with the Panthers, I knew he was a man capable and here he is away from the panthers showing that he could come up in a big way 🔥💯

  5. Goalies used to be taught to put their hand behind there back if this happens now they are not for some reason even Don cherry would say it

  6. Oh my god, please stop saying "I've never seen this before" all the time, it makes it seems like you've only been watching hockey for like a season.

  7. Stolarz is honestly great. The leafs truly don’t deserve him they leave him out to dry constantly with their lazy defensive efforts. It’s a shame they’re gonna waste his talent cause he’s playing out of his mind

  8. Super risky move I don't wanna see him do that again unless its the deciding game, final seconds of the stanley cup finals

  9. I attempted to do it once my glove came off cause a player skated into me and I slid of one for the save and bro missed the net

  10. I remember when I was a kid and was playing Goalie and I saw the oppent goalies get his hand skated over accidently when I saw him remove his glove I gasped

  11. Leafs fan chill with Stolarz …. lets see after 40 games … Leafs D is pathetic and way too many scoring chances . . . i hope he's the ONE but lets wait a little bit

  12. As jaw dropping awesome as that was, I NEVER want to see it done again. That's so dangerous, both to his NHL career and his after hockey life… so many skates flying around, this could have been a horrific incident with a skate going a few inches a different direction.

  13. “i’ve never seen a goalie make a save with his bare hand” Charlie Lindgren did this 2 years ago

  14. You have no clue what you are talkong about. Just click bait with shit info that is way incorrect 😅😅😅😅😅

  15. Stolarz impressed me as the Panthers backup. Not really surprised with his performance this season. Hope the Leafs don't waste him.

  16. Statistically Stolarz was the best goalie in the league last year. He just didn't play that many games. This years he's back to the same. No one should be that surprised.

  17. The amount of value the Leafs would have to have needed to trade for a good goalie could have broken the roster considering they got no draftpicks. I remember hearing Marner would have been needed to trade for Saros, or Cowan, Robertson and more! Getting Stolartz in free agency was the best move they could have possibly made… especially for the little amount of money he asked for along with 2 years. Dude is a top 5 goalie and he costs nothing. Great move Brad.

  18. Is there an overhead of that naked hand pickup? Looks like he pulled it across the line while pulling it up from his right side….

  19. When stolarz was on the ducks he was a fantastic backup and was better than gibson many times. I was hoping they could hold onto him and dostal but its good to see him thriving elsewhere

  20. When I was a little kid first started playing goalie I lost my glove and had to pull this move. Mom wasn’t happy😂

  21. With how many teams were coming into this season with questionable goaltending, I couldn't believe no one threw money at Stolarz. 2.5 AAV was always going to be a steal. He's showed for at least 2 seasons he was good enough to make the jump to 1A. If the Leafs can settle in to their line-up, they're going to be a scary, yet well-rounded team for the first time in a long time. They are no longer all-offense, one-trick ponies.

  22. Stolarz is proof that you can just be really big and not move all that much if you play your angles super well.

  23. I didn't even realize that Stolarz was holding the puck there at first, and so I thought that the Red Wings player was fist bumping him lol
