  1. Kinda a rich contract in term, and in dollar, amount for a goalie that is older than Demko. But options are limited for the team.

And the cap is going up…bought out players seem like they are always present on the Canucks cap.

  2. Term is a bit long. He'll be 34. 3 year deal even at 5 million would have been better but I guess Lankinen wasn't having it. Canucks had to do what they had to do.

  3. Good deal for both sides. If Lanks is still decent at 34yo he can be re-signed for a little shorter for a little less (3ys at $3.5)
Especially if Demko cannot stay healthy for more than a month at a time.

  4. You can not blame Lanks for that Canada game. He was left out to dry by the defense. Those goals were 2 on 1's or partial breaks against the best players on the planet.
    Apples and oranges.

  5. Would’ve liked it to be 1.5M less, but Lankinen has at earned it this season. For Demko I hope he recovers because I don’t really trust Lankinen as a full time starter.

  6. Good news. Well deserved.

Demko can still play, but we can only expect 20-30 games from him instead of 60. I actually don't mind resigning Demko if we pay him according to that 20-30 games expectations. Maybe $2-3m. Demko is a great goalie when he is healthy, but we cannot pay too much if we are only expecting him to play 20-30 games a year.

  7. They didn't have a choice. Difficult to find a good goalie. Who could they have signed in the summer? Charlie Lindgren?
