Teams calling on Alex Tuch. Should the Sabres listen?

Teams calling on Alex Tuch. Should the Sabres listen?

There are a couple rumors involving teams calling the Sabres about trading for Alex Tuch. With just one year left on his contract, and approaching 30 years old, should the Sabres think about moving him?

Sneaky Joe argues that it should take a ‘blow your socks off’ type offer to trade Tuch, but does mention Quinton Byfield as a realistic return on a deal.

Plus, Quinn Hughes is headed to the 4 Nations final, but will he play?

  1. Of course they should! How else are they going to keep up the "we're the youngest team in the league", excuse?

  2. Should the sabres listen? Unless they are winning.. Yeah, you listen to all offers.. does not mean you take them up… hey, offer enough and everyone can be had… let's be honest.. we can be easy.. but lets not be cheap. As for Johnson… Defenseman take a little longer.. not standing out can be good too… let's face it.. you can stand out for good.. AND BAD reasons.. He just needs the reps… again, Dman often take just a little longer.

  3. First I think we need to figure out what is going on with Byram. There is a Rumor from Mike Harrington, that if they do not trade Byram they my sign Byram to a a 9+ Million Dollar AVV contract.
If this is the case then the Sabres could trade Power first before Tuch and get a load back for Power. I think a trade with Power and Cozens in that trade and the Sabres will get some very good pieces coming back.
Hear me out. If Power is on the table as a part of the Cozens package every team is calling about that package and is making significant offers for both. At that point Pettersson + is on the table.
If Pettersson is on the table in that trade, what is Detroit's equivalate? Raymond.
I think first you figure out what is going on with Byram because your package for Tuch changes after that is figured out. If Byram is signed and Power + Cozens gets you a really good package in return. You may not need to trade Tuch. Lets say for Power and Cozens you get EP40 and Tom Willander. Willander is a RHD D, from Sweden and after this NCAA season he is going to be signing an NHL contract. He will be 1 of your top 2 RHD. Now you really changed the top 2 lines, you also changed your top 4 D.
If you have EP40 as your #1 C, then Kulich as your #2 C then you even out your 2 lines with TnT, Tuch, JJ, and Benson on the wings.

  4. To me Kulich is my #1 untouchable (and a few others)… This team is in the top 3rd in scoring (or very close) in the entire league. Lukkonen is a good goalie. Its baffling that this team isnt holding at least a bottom playoff seed. Id chalk it up to youth, inexperience and lacking leadership, not talent or coaching. Dahlin is fantastic, his injury will probably cost this team the playoffs.. that cant happen. They have to have the depth to cover a loss like that. All in all, in my opinion give Ruff 3 years, fortify what they currently have, the Sabres have the peices in place to make the playoffs next year… So i dont know how much you want to mess around with this line up, Tuch is a ptetty important piece.

  5. Cannot judge anyone in Sabres org as to being nhl player as Sabres cannot develop anyone. Dumpster fire so trade him and let him have chance in real org.

  6. A tuch trade would be the best thing Adam's has done this season.. his numbers are lackluster hot and cold. I think he would be better elsewhere. There are hungrier men who deserve a shot. Maybe get bogosian back. He has been playing well and is a great veteran.he has been playing for cheap and not far from his hometown.

  7. Is Jacob Bryson good enough in those other traits to make up for his lack of physical play? I think not. You should make the argument that he should never be a NHL defenseman too

  8. you should absolutely not be able to bring other players! you play who you bring!!! GO🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏒🏒🏒🔥🔥🔥 Hughes should absolutely not be able to play lol incoming excuse why US losses to Canada and to say that you hope USA makes up an injury is just pathetic in my book

  9. Keep Tuch as long as he wants to stay, unless of course the return is too good to decline. Try and lock up Byram for at least a few years. Trade Cozens. Trade whoever else, at this point it doesn't really matter, barring the biggest comeback ever, this season is dead anyway.

  10. Hello Sabres fans! Wild fan here and been tuning in to the podcast over the past few weeks. With all the trade rumors swirling, I've been very interested to see if the Wild would be interested in making a deal. Between Cozens and our former 1st rounder Tuch, I'm curious to see what BG does with Rossi. I would love to have a fun convo on what fans are wanting to see from these trades. You've had to endure so much pain so I feel for you guys. Plus we've made a ton of trades with Pominville, Greenway and many others. I would love to see a Tuch trade more than Cozens because I'm not entirely sold on him at this point. What would fans want to see for a return for a guy like Tuch? And what do you feel like you are missing from being a steady playoff team year in and year out? You look at the prospects you've drafted and there is a ton of talent here, pretty crazy to see how much talent is there!

  11. doesn't make sense for tb to deal cirelli or the kings to deal byfield. fiala…is a wash offensively, but fiala is…more of what you have and less of what you need. keep tuch unless he personally requests a trade.

if you trade cozens to montreal, we can give you tuch's brother in the return. and dach. and a pick.

  12. Tuch is the kind of player that if you trade him, you’ve completely given up on your team. You just don’t trade a homegrown player of the caliber of Tuch unless you’re wiping the slate clean and going back to Day One Rebuild.

  13. He is a hollow leader. Tuch was the mastermind of the salute protest when they were booed at home. Just because he grew up a Sabre fan does make him a long term captain. His trade value will never be higher than now.

  14. any possible trades need to consider moving Samuelsonn maybe another team thinks they can turn him into a hockey player because it hasn’t happened here

  15. I didn't have to watch the vid – — DO NOT TRADE TUCH.
He's a lifelong Sabre fan who wants to be here – he's productive – he's a leader – he's a young veteran at 28 – he's a great forechecker. They're not going to have to break the bank to keep him. I think he would accept $7.5mil per, over 8 years as that would make him the highest paid forward on the team.

  16. Alex Tuch needs to stay here, I can see him being the captain for sure. I won't say I want to see it more than dahlin, but he would be the next choice for sure. He should be safe from trades

  17. Trade them all for draft picks or goons. But first hire new GM and scouts who have proven they can recognize NHL caliber talent. Can't get much worse.
