The Montreal Canadiens are ready to return to action on Saturday night when they play in Ottawa and face the Senators. Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico talk about Habs forward Juraj Slafkovsky and maybe it’s better for the Canadiens to put Patrik Laine on the top line next to Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield? An idea so crazy, it might work?

DO NOT GIVE UP ON KIRBY DACH

Let's not confuse Slaf with Carbonneau or Bergeron. Surely Laine is not much of a step down from Slaf. In fact offensively it would be an upgrade. So any defensive downside will be offset by the offensive improvement.
Why is it that Slafkovsky hasn't been power skating coached to the tenth degree, already?
Just want to quickly point out that last week I jokingly said Hughes will wish he was a Demidov. It led you to even question the demographics of your audience on air. How effective was Hughes during the 4 nations? I'd say he was pretty much invisible. So, although I was joking about the comparison, I don't see why that was so far out of the realm of reality you'd question how old your viewership was. Hughes is a great player. I don't think he's at that top tier level either though.
I hope Slafkovsky starts playing up to his new contract potential next year which is in the 7M range.
Unless we can be the best team in the league for the last 2 months, then it's safe to say this season is lost. It doesn't make sense to not try Laine on the top line at this point, and let Slaf earn his spot for once. If he's going to continue playing like a third liner, he shouldn't be on the top line.
100% most players needed a break if that had I a few weeks ago they might still be in the mix
