Did the Colorado Avalanche WIN the Mikko Rantanen Trade with the Carolina Hurricanes for Martin Necas? The Colorado Avalanche made a bold move by trading Mikko Rantanen for Martin Necas and other key assets, but was it the right decision? Necas has shown immediate chemistry with Nathan MacKinnon, bringing speed, skill, and versatility to the lineup. With the trade still fresh, it’s too early to declare a winner, but early signs suggest Colorado may have landed a key piece for the future. Colorado won. Love Mikko but he won't be the same guy without Nate and Cale
Marty Necas has blown me away. Also, after watching him on Spitting Chiclets it became clear to me he is a humble, class act. Let’s see what we do with that extra cap space before declaring a winner, but damn its looking good
If they re-sign Necas for less than $10M per year long term, maybe.
Avs definitely gt better with trade…cant wait to see what happens next😎
Avs won. McSakic did it again. Drury is a fire pick up too.
Both teams got great players. But only one of those teams got players that fit into their system like a glove right now.
How is this question not marked at TBD until after the playoffs / end of season? If Colorado Goes further or does better in the playoffs = Win. If Colorado gets blown the ** out in the playoffs and a round 1 exit and Caroline goes to round 2 or beyond……
I don't know why everybody is so obsessed with who "wins or loses" a trade. In this instance I think both teams won. Carolina got a top five winger in the league and the Avalanche got a highly skilled and fast top line guy and some cap flexibility as well as a reliable 3C.
All of you that fix transmissions for a living but somehow still call for the GM's head when they make a trade you don't like because you have 4 of that players jersey can get bent.
NONE OF YOU have the knowledge of players and team management to have a successful NHL GM career, not a single fucking one. So next time instead of getting on YouTube and crying that CMC should be fired.. Sit down, shut the fuck up, and wait to see how the trade plays out.
I think this was a gamble for both teams. But I could see it paying off more for the Avs. The Avs moved an all star in Rantanen. That's always a gamble. But Necas could become an all star next to Mackinnon. Carolina gambled, because if they don't win the cup, or Rantanen walks…then they just lost Necas, Drury and 2nd for nothing.
When the rumors started about Mikko and the lack of an extension I was hoping they would trade him. His lack of effort and lackadaisical performances every game this season makes me feel EXTREMELY luck to not only get Necas but Drury and a pick… We have upgraded HUGELY. Granted, playoff Mikko shined, we will see how Martin does come May / June when it counts.
Also, I think critics of CMC and Joe undervalue the risk of not signing him and letting Mikko walk for free when he becomes a UFA.
Avs won easily Miko needs Mac and Cale I believe you will see a big drop in his scoring
Even thou Miko was great and one best wingers in NHL. Not too many teams has the luxury of staring at a bench with 2 players in the world. The gamble was to keep the Stanley Cup window open as long as possible. With Miko high demand in price to keep him, having a supporting cast was going to make the window challenging, especially if is for one year. Necas will never replace Miko, but it does give the Avs its own distinct look. He's puck handling is notches blow Miko's, but so is Miko's skating. Hopefully, with the skating you develop more scoring chances to help offset Miko's shot
