What the fuck was the end 😂😂
I think they will regret this…Anderson is a great player but if they think they're going far in the playoffs …or make the playoffs…get the assets.
Ownership already made clear they don't want a rebuild last year when Conroy tried trading Markstrom. Conroy will need his team to be much worse before he can justify rebuilding to ownership.
8 years $8m AAV with large bonuses paid up front over the first 5 years reducing his base salary and money owed over the last 3 years, or they move him in the off season.
$8m cap hit in 5 years will be like a $6m cap hit right now with the rising cap. If Ras thinks hes worth $9m AAV or higher with term until he's 37/38, then they'll let him try to get it elsewhere.
It will ultimately be just like all the other pending UFA's, except if Ras won't sign the offer they give him in the off season, Conny won't be waiting until the deadline to move him.
The contract still has to make sense for the team, and thats why all those pending UFAs were traded, as they werent willing to sign the offers that the team felt were fair offers.
I would move him
I agree they will probably have to trade him, but in a year where he has helped mentor so many young players and we are in a playoff spot I just don’t see what the rush is when you can still trade him next yr and likely get the same value
Andersen is a stud. I wouldn’t want to trade him either
Andersson wants to stay in Calgary and sign long term.. enough said. If he gave any indication he would like to go elsewheres done deal Conroy would accomodate him.. Andersson and Weegar are our pillars we will add great young D to our core in place..
Craig Conroy L
I love him as a player and the fact that he wants to stay knowing what this team is, where it is at and where it is going generally makes me say keep him. We keep seeing tear-it-down rebuilds like the Sabres, Blackhawks, etc. that demoralize the players because their getting run-over every game. BUT it also depends what the offer is. If the offer is a reclamation project like Cozens for Andersson, then hell no, keep him. But if there is some huge offer where (for example) Pettersson or someone who could be a #1C requires that Andersson is included in the trade; then, sure trade him. TLDR – Flames cannot afford to lose an Andersson trade.
Wow Ron Maclean jumping in at the end there.
Ya let's trade Anderson just to spend the next 5 years trying to find someone to fill his role. All there teams with the "young skilled players" have to wait unto they all mature to actually contend. You need a mix of boys & men to ensure success.
if they sign him to a long term extension it has to be another 5 or 6 years max. but probably won’t happen
He deserves to retire here just like # 11 Backs who was picked here we should show our kids to adult we will back you till the end of your time as a player.
Id definitely move him , his numbers arent great hes not producing , let a team over pay for him at the deadline please
I like Andersson very much but if it's a matter of getting back a young asset that helps the team going forward, it's a no-brainer.
This season is a nightmare
