The Coyotes are the team that brought me back into hockey, half a season before the Bankrupsy. I attended several games even though I lived in Tucson and had a 3-4 hour drive to and from games. The Coyotes always had management and owner issues and that carried over to the ice. Merchandise was hard to come buy outside of the arena and local news never really hyped up the team. The fans are there, they just never had a huge reason to show up. Get a good owner with an area on the east side and you will have a large hockey market that will crank out more Austin Mathews.
Fans voting against it? It was a bunch of old people that voted against they can keep their dump

Maricopa county board are working to bring the nhl back. They had a zoom call with gary and hes gonna work with them to find a owner and location. They just need things to be right. They need a good owner, a building thats actually accessible to fans and have a product to root for and be proud of. People can criticize the ownership and even the team when they were in az, but its not fair to criticize the fanbase. Arizona has hockey fans.

The Coyotes were like a cat with 9 lives. Given opportunities to stay a float that I'd argue a lot of other teams wouldn't get because Bettman wanted the desert project to succeed really bad. The Thrashers were never given that luxury.
I was born in 2001 in Phoenix, dad introduced me to hockey before I could walk. I played hockey as a kid because of this team. Coyotes were my only sports team as long as I've been alive and since they left it's been hard to stay invested in the NHL
The coyote's were stolen from Winnipeg. They have never been successful in Arizona and now there gone to Utah. The Jets 2.0 have been in the playoff more times than not and are current sitting No 1 in the entire league. Bettman is an idiot and that relocation should never have happened.
Imo I think it didn’t help that this team played a large majority of its time in the dead puck era as much as everything else was incompetent around this organization, why would fans want to see bland losing hockey and it’s difficult to build out a fan base with a sport that was dull and losing all of the time, I get why the dead puck era was fun for some but from a causal perspective why would they care? Idk maybe just me

Btw, the Yotes were about to get the building until the owner of what's called Utah Hockey Club has decided to bribe the officials to vote against the Yotes getting the building.
