  1. I have to admit that at first I was a bit skeptical about this tournament, but it's getting better with every game and now I'm glad I gave it a chance. I even think that this format is perfect for a mid-season tournament in a non-Olympic season. Some people say there should be more teams. Well, if it was held in September I'd agree, but since we're in the middle of the season I think it was a really good idea. Plus, inviting two pairs of teams that literally hate each other definitely spices things up.

  2. Some of the best hockey I’ve seen in awhile. Just the intensity of it. It’s amazing to watch! I rewatched as well and didn’t know a Mike Sullivan coached team could look like that. Was almost mind blown lol.

  3. FIN shows very good quality against SWE. They dominate, Rantanen shows why he deserves more then 9.6min avarage:)))
Granlund always play well for national team and Dallas also as a Team Finland:)
Let's hope USA and Finland finals

  4. A couple of comments. GuentzeL who has 5-6 years good years in him was given up for what has amounted to is depth forwards. A solid first liner who is a gamer. Even at an all star level. That trade will go down as a big L for the Penguins.

  5. The feel of the first period was like a Junior game. Players whose emotions got the better of them. The advanced stats the States were out played. What the US has done well is their defensive structure. They collapsed the middle of the ice like Finland does. That was the difference. The physicality didn’t make as much difference. In 2014 Olympics Canada dominated every team, defensively. Teams literally got nothing. That is what USA did

  6. Last comment. Watching Sid in these games. As a huge Sid fan, he can’t keep up with elite players today. McDavid against the leagues best still looked other worldly. I got to give him a ton of credit as a hockey player. It was hard for me to say this out loud but early second period I said “Sid is a liability put there’. He was losing puck battles and turning over the puck often. 5 mins later he turned it over for GWG. Sad and hard for me to say but Sid can’t keep up with the elite players anymore.

  7. Morning DK! My take away from this tournament is the penguins need a roster that matches Sully style. We need skaters. Not necessarily the most skilled guys, but guys who will skate until their legs fall off. I’ve been impressed by the line changes and his drum beating about a defensive, team-oriented style hockey. This tournament has been a joy to watch, and the Johnny Hockey jersey presentation gets me every time.

  8. Wow … this win was everting to the yanks eh ?? Not an OlYMPIC GOLD MEDAL I guess, but a round robin tourney win against a team built by a serial loser in Dubas …..enjoy it though ….lol .

  9. see I was enjoying and somewhat rooting for Canada just for Sid, but after that insanity Saturday and seeing how psychotic Canadian fans are, USA all the way. No mercy..
They were booing Matthews when he plays on Toronto for god's sake! And that Harley fellow, who was born and raised in NEW YORK but because he has Canadian lineage and dual citizenship he was asked to play for Canada. That is a JOKE.
So go team USA, no sympathy for Sid in this instance. We should boo their anthem at the Boston game, see how they like it.
Also, Sully's coaching isn't the problem. Clearly. He's just stuck with Pens team in a serious rut

  10. I dont think you can generalize based on just one game. Most everything in the game and even the pre game was an anomaly. I am hoping to watch what happens in a round 2 of USA vs Canada

  11. It's far better to make those hits than to receive them, and the defense was great. Talk about outstanding, this is it. Thank you DK

  12. Thoughts: Crosby had a bad game.. he looked old and weak. Sullivan can coach when he has talent to coach. It's still and always will be about talent not coaching.

  13. Hey DK, Avery Hayes is on a serious tear down in WBS. I realize he's in an odd situation where he's a product of WBS, but not the Penguins. Any idea why the Pens haven't inked him yet? From my understand any team can offer him a contract right now, and scoop him up. Seems like it would be a huge miss to not sign a 22 year old player showing serious potential.
