  1. Captaincy is overrated. 3 A's is fine enough when you still have your C in every capacity except on ice.

Like Hans says to Conway in mighty ducks d3. "It's only a letter. He didn't take what's underneath it."

If you give the C to say MacK, Makar or Toews it's not going to magically change their game or make them a million times better. If that were the case Radko Gudas wouldn't be a fucking pylon.

  2. We loved Jombo Joe and we should have at least a 15” statue of him, but I’m not sure we have one other then his bust some where in the stadium.

  3. If the C had to go to anyone else, and I don't even like thinking about that, I would pick Makar over MacKinnon. Everyone knows MacK has an insane compete level, but he can also be a hothead sometimes. I feel like to whatever extent a captain effects their team, Makar would bring a more calming steady confidence.

  4. I think the reason that nobody has taken the 'C' from Landy is because of exactly what you said….he's loved in the locker room, and the team believes in his recovery. I think if Sakic asked Makar, Mack, or Toews to take the 'C' they would say no, that belongs to Landy.

  5. I want Landescog back just to play in the bottom 6. I know his contract sucks, but the emotional impact he would make is immeasurable.

  6. I think it is just a case of Landy being that respected. He led the team through thick and thin and through his injuries that have kept him out this long in order to get them to the Cup. He's just that guy, and it feels like it would be wrong to take the C from him until he decides it's time to give it up.

  7. I think after Landeskog retires that Makar would be the next Captain, but like others have said, I don't think anyone will take over as Captain until Landy says that he is done.

  8. I dont think anyone in that locker room wants the C if landy hasnt retired, and when the day comes it surly wont be Nate who wears it. My bet is cale, but there is another defensman on the team who could wear it as well

  9. Glad that you corrected that letter grade quick. Even as a Wings fan, I've got to give a nod to their recent Cup win and acknowledge that they're a well run organization.

  10. Landy is captain until he says otherwise, end of discussion, full stop. Then it should be Makar as much as Mack is awesome, he can get emotional (which is a good thing and bad thing)

  11. Cant continue to have Landy as the captain. The fact that he hasn't come back, to me, means that this is a playoff only 4th line type situation if anything. And Makar would be the new captain, not Mackinnon.

  12. Makar would be the captain. Mack has made it pretty clear that he does not care about having that C on his chest lmao. But yeah, no one in the locker room would even entertain the fact of becoming captain while theres still a chance of landeskog coming back, landy is just too well liked.

  13. It's cool to see Barrie made the top 10 scorers list. He was one of my favorite players to watch when he was on the Avs, and it's sad to see him sort of not finding a stable home in the NHL right now.

As far as the captain C, I think it's a great show of support that they haven't named someone new to wear the C. It's clear in interviews with players and coaches how great a leader Landeskog is, and how much everyone likes him. Also, who wants the honor of something like that if they know it'll just be taken away when the guy people want comes back?

  14. I've been an Avalanche fan from the beginning, and still am a fan. I can't watch the games anymore with all of the monkey business going on with our blackout, and can't switch to a non-cable service due to logistics at home. If they (whoever that is) doesn't want me to watch, then fine. I catch the highlights on YouTube the next day and do other things with the time I used to spend watching every single game (which I did for years).

I play recreational hockey, and back when I was able to record them, I'd still at least fast-forward through the Avalanche game when I got home from my 10:30pm game. Maybe it is all for the better, the motion on the board ads, and the ads on the jerseys aren't exactly selling the game to me very well. Those little jersey ads are going to multiply and get bigger over time, that's how it works. They can't just slap that bumper-sticker ad on the front of the helmets like they have in some other leagues, it has to creep its way there. If the NHL starts to look like Nascar or some low-end foreign league, that might tank NHL hockey for me. It's like they are trying to get me NOT to watch. Make it ugly and hard to get. That'll do it. Just because there is an empty space on the ice or on the uniforms doesn't mean that it should have something on it, junking it up like graffiti. Keep the look clean and clear, as much as possible anyway. Some ads have to be there, others don't. Why not slap an ad on the Statue of Liberty or Mount Rushmore while they're at it. "They've got to pay the bills and stay in business". Right.

  15. As an Avs fan, I've always felt that in regards to the captaincy situation there are a ton of leaders in that room who will push that team to be better regardless of whether there is a "C" on their chest. I've also always felt that if the only thing preventing you from stepping up and being a leader in the absence of Landeskog is the letter on your chest, you do not deserve to have that letter

  16. Shannon I don’t know if you are aware but you should look into the ongoing dispute between kroenke and comcast. Avs (and nuggets) fans still can’t watch games on tv (yes I know there are ways, but not “legit”). Insane that championship teams aren’t on tv!

And if/when landy leaves, the C goes to Toews… he is the mature and professional anchor of this team

  17. Especially after the Mikko trade, I see Makar being the clear long term Captain in waiting for the Avs. My guess is he's the one guy they will almost just hand a blank check to and say, you name your price. Hejduk is one of my favorite players of all time and I keep saying that Necas has some Hejduk in him. He almost feels like a mix of Hejduk/and a bigger Makar. Outside of about five years in the '10's, the Avs have been such a great franchise. I feel for all those people in Quebec that lost this team, only to see it have so much success for decades later.

  18. huge name missing from top scores list, with Avs 11 yrs Regular Season 591gp – 217g – 538a – 755pts. Playoffs 140gp – 58g – 101a – 159pts. Peter "The Great" "Foppa" Forsberg. Probably the best player ever during that era when healthy and sometimes not. Removed sternum and bad ankles was still better than most. Guy was absolute beast.
