Ryan Poehling gets crushed – no call gives Torts an aneurysm

Don’t ask me how long it took to me to type aneurysm. Lets hear below your thoughts on the hit. Also follow me on twitter https://x.com/BreadMan_Burner

  1. Principal point of contact looked to be the head. The shoulders may have scraped on each other but the hip turn took the shoulders offline from each other and combined with the the upward motion made the head the main point of contact. The angle at 0:36 looks quite clear to me.

If he doesn't turn his hip or stays knees bent then contact is made at the shoulder or in the chest. Likely deserves a supplemental discipline given the Flyer player didn't make any last second moves or turns himself.

  2. Thats not a good hit. Torts is right it should have been called. Pretty clear blindside hit that appears to make initial contact with the head. Wouldnt be surprised to see a leage review regardless of the on ice call.

  3. from my armchair it looks like the hit encompassed the shoulder and the head, the power off button on the jar was definitely hit, you dont see many flops that look that genuine if it wasnt genuine, if your hit includes the head im not callign it clean

  4. Torts is a good man standing up for his player. Warranted a three-game suspension, so I guess he was justified in his reaction. Love Torts

  5. If this was the other direction the flyers would just be calling everyone crybabies.

Little did they know they're the pissbabies all along. LOL suck it up torts, crybaby.

  6. Not a fan of either team. Or the current NHL, for that matter. Clean hit. What, guys come in and cut toward the net paying no attention to their surroundings and the defense is supposed to step aside for them? If anything, the Islander' player went easy on him – just glided in and bumped into the Flyers player, didn't get his elbow up or launch into him with his shoulder at all.

  7. LOL I met Torts years ago at the Hall of Fame in Toronto. Waited about 2 hours to get the autographs from the entire Tampa Bay Lightning team as they were defending champions. Was fun. Got to meet Craig Ramsay, Vincent Lecavalier, Brad Richards, Martin St. Louis and the rest of the team.

  8. It's a dirty hit period! Don't need it in the game.
& sadly for Poehling, He has already had his bell rung on multiple occasions throughout his career.. Hope he's able to make a strong recovery.
