I've felt that, if it's just 4 nations, it should be Canada, USA, Russia, and Czechia. I know Russia invaded Ukraine and that's a big deal. At the same time, Russian athletes had nothing to do with that. The sport is the sport and if we're going to call it "best on best" it should include the countries that are best at it.
I think it's disingenuous when people act like wanting Russian players in the 4 nations is equivalent to supporting the Russian invasion. If they really believe that, then why aren't they advocating to ban Russian players from the NHL?
The war in Ukraine is awful and unjustified. Just because banning Russian players is what some people are doing to protest that war, doesn't mean that the people who think it's inappropriate to ban players over it are in favor of the war
I'm also very happy that Finland has a team, lots of my favorite players are Finnish.
