@Montreal Canadiens

He doesn’t deserve this..

OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine.. Who recently hit a brick wall in terms of goal scoring, was demoted to the bottom 6 but in my opinion.. He’s been a scapegoat for the 2nd line!! Let’s talk about it.

  1. You're right about the patience part however that's wearing a bit thin. Laine needs to find some grit and make room for himself. Get his mad out and show MSL he can grind. Tanks HJ.

  2. We’ll give him more ice time when he starts moving his ass. He coasts most of his shifts in the d zone and is way too predictable on the pp. I like Laine but no matter how bad the Habs play, he’s gotta step up.

  3. Unreal the hate this guy is getting. Course the same idiots are calling for Marty to be fired, when they stfu during the win.

Good video tho, thank you for saying this

  4. This really needs saying and repeating. I can't understand how he gets such hatred when he isn't winning the games for the team. Nobody wins every game for their team. And they definitely don't do it from 2nd or 4th line with 10+ minutes. He was the best Finnish forward on the ice yesterday against USA, playing with great talent. He needs to play with better talent and more minutes in Montreal to be more useful. And the PP has to be able to score if the opponent covers Laine 1 on 1 like some teams have, which takes away his onetimer. That leaves the rest with a 4 on 3 PP and if they can't score on that, how is that Laine's fault? He's doing his share just by tying up that one opponent.

  5. Same old Laine, he has one trick and teams just had to adjust. Nothing in his game is different since his Winnipeg days.

  6. well , maybe im still wrong but 2 years ago on this channel i commented that the Habs would make the playoff next year so im not worried at all about the bad performances of this season.Still a really young team overall…

As for Laine or people blaming him, I think Laine is the best trade the Habs made in a long time

ive already commented in an old video when we got Dach i think, about how i didnt like the fact that Hughes trade a young defenseman in a 1 on 1 trade for a forward of the same age as the value of a defenseman is bigger than a forward of the same age. Dach did prove me wrong for about 3 games before getting his injury , then ,nothing.I liked and still like Romanov more and would love to see Romanov in the team right now.

I also commented in ur video when we got Newhook how i hated that trade , where we got a 3rd line center unable to win face off (so a 3rd line winger )against a late first round and an early 2nd round almost back to back pick , a 22 yo 'established' average player against two 18 yo player unestablished…also saying that weve actually paid more to get Newhook than Dach

And in youre video when we drafted Reinbacher my only'prolem' with that was that drafting Reinbacher when we already had the best defensive pool of prospect in the NHL was a little bit…strange to me but maybe he had a plan for that.

I dont think we should blame Laine , it is probably the best thing Hughes did for us as for now.
But on the better side i will give credits to Hughes as for the contracts he signed since hes with us , i like the management staff he put in position and all the PR representative all that stuff , i liked the draft picks he chosed mostly
So idk im not worrying at all about the team overall , i still think we should be be a really good and competitive team making the playoff next year

  7. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!! I was literally thinking the same today!! And after that we wonder why star players dont want to come to mtl ( i know the taxes pays a part in it) but damn it gotta stop we got a good one with us lets cherish him not perish him!!!

  8. Eh, that's just crazy Habs fans… always cheering one second, and tossing someone on the train tracks another. I know, I've been one for about 35 years.

The other side of the fan base is just as crazy (not really a bad thing), but also has a deep love for the game in general and knows when to lose their shit about a player, coach or team in general.

  9. He didn't get demoted because of his line mates, it was because of his inconsistent lack of effort, at times he skates as if he's depressed. Mental illness is real and needs to be taken seriously. We should be supporting him, not shitting on him. So don't blame Dach and Newhook, it's in Laine's head as he has said.

  10. The Montreal media are a bunch of vultures that don't want to see the team win. They want to stir up shit to get clicks and sell papers.

  11. The weird thing about this Laine bashing is that people forget the mental side of his struggles and apparently expect that the issues could be resolved entirely off the ice. Him being in a slump is actually a key point in his recovery and the focus should be on how he will get out of it and what he will learn through this experience.

You can talk about struggles with a therapist/mental coach all you like, but to actually overcome them you need to face them in the real world and figure things out on the go, or it's all just empty talk. It's actually a positive thing for him to be tested like this now and the focus should be on the process and the outcome, not that he still has similar issues as in the past. To me it looks like he's reacting more positively and more constructively than in the past and doesn't seem to be spiraling down as hard, even if the performance on the ice still kinda sucks.

Him needing better linemates, needing to skate faster or playing better defense are just hockey things that don't matter much at this point in a season that's starting to look like a writeoff anyway. All of that can be worked on or around later in the future as long as his head is still in the game. Right now the key is just getting over the mental hump and getting back on track without it weighing on him too heavily. Everything else is pretty inconsequential.

  12. Yeah, I agree. And I know a lot of other fans agree too. Laine on the first line makes a lot of sense. He has shown an ability to backcheck that I knew he had, but hadn't seen from him that often. In the Finland-USA game, he actually was one of their better players, and he did make some excellent defensive plays. So he can clearly handle the responsibility of playing against top competition. And if he can handle that, why shouldn't he be given top teammates? I'm not saying there's a 100% chance of this working, but even if it's 30 or 40%, it's worth trying. Laine's always been a weird player. When he's on, he's elite, there's no two ways about it. It looks effortless. And when he's off, he looks like the 12th forward on a middling team. There's streaky players, and then there's Laine. And that's not a new phenomenon. He's had better years and worse years, but this is who he has always been.

So…getting him to turn it around is all about putting him in a situation where he can find success, and Suzuki and Caufield are both extremely good players who could really use the benefit of a shooter on their line, to draw the attention of their opponents and give them more opportunities for high-danger chances. The only issue I can see is that both Caufield AND Laine are right shooters who really like to play the left side. And I think part of the solution here is to let Laine play the left side, not just on the PP, but all the time. It's clearly where he can make the biggest impact – even having him play with Dach and Newhook on the right side is a bit of a weird choice, when he's so good on the left. Playing him on the left with Suzuki and Caufield would require that Caufield switch back to his natural side. But I think that's a small price to pay for igniting Laine's scoring touch again (and I think Caufield has the intuition and hockey smarts to make it work anyway). It always baffled me how the team happily gives Laine PP time in his "office" (like Ovi), but they keep him on the right most of the rest of the time. Maybe it's time to try another way? He's downright dangerous with that one-timer…teams have to take it seriously, regardless of whether he's on a hot or cold streak.

  13. Random thought. Why doesnt Montreal sell Laine for cheap. He comes over to PITT and plays beside Sidney Crosby for a year. I bet ya his mojo would be back.

  14. i mean how many chances does laine need to get, at this point he seems like a special needs kid always needing sush when he clearly plays bad and lazy, hes just a one trick pony that isint even elite at his thing, while being pretty terrible on other areas of the game

  15. Jet's fan here. Laine has an absolute gift in his shot best in the NHL in my opinion, everything else is a liability out there. His skating, his defensive play he doesn't fit on a top line he can't be on a third or fourth line, he can't kill penalties but he should be on every teams #1 PP. He's a second line winger that will get scored on more often than not and absolutely lethal at the top of the circle on the PP.
