The San Diego Gulls fell just short in a tightly contested matchup against the Abbotsford Canucks, dropping a 3-2 decision on Tuesday night. After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in the second, with Sam Colangelo opening the scoring for the Gulls just 54 seconds into the frame. Linus Karlsson responded for Abbotsford minutes later, but Colangelo struck again at 13:17 to regain the lead for San Diego. The advantage was short-lived, as Aatu Räty netted the equalizer for the Canucks just over a minute later. In the third, Karlsson notched his second goal of the night at 10:21, which proved to be the game-winner. Despite a strong effort, the Gulls were unable to find the tying goal, with Abbotsford outshooting them 32-19. Colangelo’s two-goal performance earned him second-star honors, while Karlsson’s game-winning effort secured him the top star of the night.
