  1. This would be SO ruthless… I can't imagine Kent EVER does this. We LOVE Laine here at Habs Digest and want him to stay… But would YOU do this trade from a hockey standpoint?

  2. I wouldn't do it
The Laine acquisition is symbolical to the team improving, even if he's streaky

Dobson doesn't represent that great leap forward as Laine does

  3. I got to see Nick Elers when he played for the Mooseheads hear in Halifax for 1 yr. Nick seems to be a character guy. Looked what he did to help Jake Evans, after the big hit on him, he protected while Jake was laying on the ice. I think he could fit well in the dressing room. Thanks Kevin from Halifax

  4. The French media is always trying to stir the pot. Ignore them. What Laine said is what any player would say in his situation. Laine for Dobson, though call. I really want to see Laine play with a playmaker/passer like Demidov or Slaf. You are right on with the reputation we are building of a team. If we get rid of Laine after a few bad games what does that say to other top players who become UFA's. Keep the faith! GO HABS GO!

  5. There is zero chance of this happening. Laine is like what PLD was up to until this season. PLD ends up on Ovi’s team and he’s been staying in his lane. Laine needs that situation and the Isles are far from that. Outside of Roy, I don’t know who would keep him locked in. Not sure who does that on the Habs either.

  6. Laine news comes in threes:
-Laine scores a lot for a several game period
-Laine doesn't score for several games
    -Laine says some shit

And depending on where you are in the cycle he is either the second coming of Ovechkin, the worst player ever, an arrogant asshole, or the savior of the team he was most recently traded to.
It will repeat. It always does. Let us remember this the next time the cycle comes. As it will.

  7. Laine is making the right noises and owning his performance (or lack thereof) thus far and entertaining rumours of trading him so soon after acquiring him would be viewed as a setback for all involved. Laine is only 25 and the club will need to show faith in him. Thanks guys.

  8. Montreal media can be toxic and will run players out of town when they have a rough season or even a rough game. Nothing new here and it’s pathetic. Laine came in and scored like a blockbuster and everyone loved him. Of course his scoring slowed down and now this crap. The entire Montreal team are struggling. I watch most games and his teammates aren’t getting the puck to him like they were. Other teams are likely targeting him and getting sticks in the way now. Laine is one play and it’s not like right now he has an elite centre feeding him pucks. He’s getting his game but he will likely need a full season to get all aspects of his game in place. Dach is going thru a lot of the similar things and they’re line mates. So no surprise there. But the media want to make a monster because that’s what the Montreal media do and certain people are known to be negative, attention seeking and love to cause problems. The public need to get together and get behind the Habs and shut out the bad influences of the one or two psychopathic media folks who love to cause drama. Laine is a wild class shooter and we need someone like him on the team. They aren’t a dime a dozen and I think the commitment made to him will pay off. Dach may be a different player in six months and we could have ourselves a solid second line. If not then make changes. Hughes, unlike other Montreal gms will sit pat on this as he should and see where we are next season. The draft is where it’s at and if our second line struggles for the rest of the season it’s not the end of the world. Trading laine now sends a bad message to others, and let’s face it Habs gms in the past didn’t help the reputation any. Classless trades and shoddy “you want loyalty get a dog” attitudes have plagued the team for decades. Stick with a player who shows you dedication and they will give back. Look at Gallagher.

  9. If they drafted michkov instead of reinbacher , you could easily trade him for Dobson , that why you draft talent and best player available , unlike the Canadiens who like to draft “ maybes” and wait for a big pile of nothing

how do the habs have no prospect they can trade or offensive talent after having a record 48 picks at their last 4 drafts?

The have have no depth , they have demidov outside the nhl and that’s it . Btw they sure AF don’t have a Dobson in their organization

Sorry but Laine has zero value except for real contenders and only if the habs are willing to retain

How about Carolina? That whole team is made of Finish players or colorado? If the habs retain half his salary than Laine only has 1 year at 4.35 million left on his contract 🤷🏼‍♂

How are fans talking about letting Armia and Evans go? Laine should have been traded when he had 9 goals at his first 12 games

If the habs retain , they can still get a return for Laine.

  10. Patrick Laine is lazy and doesn't possess the will to play in the NHL..Hes very rich and hes not willing to put in the work.. Look how much hes played in the last few years.. Hes not motivated and as a lifelong habs fan i didn't like that montreal got him and i still dont.. Do we wanna pay this bum his 9 million dollars annually to maybe get 40 games a year out of him. Hes very capable but has ZERO heart.. Cant wait till hes gone!!!

  11. As much as i'd love to have dobson, I really want to see Demigod setting up Laine. I think those two on the same line will be unstoppable

  12. I would like to have Dobson and its probs his childhood team being from PEI and he does put up alot but we need scoring forward power and giving Laine up for him i dont think would work out, with reinbacher, mailloux, coming i mean if were expecting D1 Dobson, D2 Reinbacher, D3 Mailloux then sure but I think if we can make it happen we need to make it happen without giving up anything in our top 6. Maybe something like Hage or Beck plus a 1st maybe send a current RD as well and maybe that seels the deal.

  13. Laine for Dobson are you insane or blind if you watch laine
I hope he is otta shape and that is the reason if not you would not get anything for him

  14. Move on. We have what they want but won't be giving it up. He's too expensive in a rebuild. Ny is not taking Laine he's too much of a risk

  15. Laine needs more time to heal mentally and physically. He's being paid another year, if he is truly re-energized in Montreal, let's see next season. If not, no contract offer. Habs might make the jump to "the mix" next season. This season is too inconsistent.

  16. He scores goals on the left side of a power play. Thats what he does. Not physical, not a great puck handler….he gets in his head and apparently rubs teammates the wrong way. He dresses like a superstar but hes not.

  17. As long as habs fans will treat athletes this way we will keep struggling to convince people to play here and we will stay a mid pack team at best. I get the passion but I can't justify the lack of respect from a bunch of nobodies who never played at that level and don't understand what it takes to get there in the first place. I mean look at all the hate Price has gotten over the years even tho players across the nhl kept saying he's one of the best… We get what we deserve.

  18. The haters of the Laine quote taken out of context, ignoring the end of his quote are the same who do that to Trump and Elon Musk. This is the the game they play with those who they hate. They wait for an opportunity to take a comment out of context and all the haters parrot each other their talking points.

  19. why laine havent tested yet on the 1 line… i just dont getit what martin is doing! just playeing those brake lines what dosent have the playmaker skills to provide the shoot! just stupid! and you see hes so frustraidet not geting the reall chanse!

  20. I rarely would trust the Quebec media when it comes to criticizing Habs players. The media love to start a wildfire when there isn't one. I'm aware that Laine is good friends with Alexander Barkov and Sebastian Aho. Gotta see how well they gel at 4 Nations. Habs need more offensive forwards not defense…this is why they fell short in 2021.

  21. I would do it for the betterment of the team . As far as emotions go , why getting rid of Jake that has been around for 9 year ,has grown up as a hab it’s ok to trade but not Laine ? Lethal shot but painfully slow skater . Probably won’t happen is my guess .

  22. How about Matheson for Dobson? Would Make sence for Habs and Islanders could trade him for some forward

  23. I don’t understand everyone’s rush with the team or Laine/Dach/Slaf. Everyone knew they (Laine/Dach) were coming back from injuries, we all knew both would have ups and downs. Wasn’t the plan to let MSL work on Laine to see if he could build Laine and add some defensive game to his arsenal just like he did with Caulfield. No one know’s whether it will work or not, but this is the first real challenge/wall Laine has had. Let them work through it, we’ll know by next year. Same with Dach, he’s shown flashes that demonstrate his ability when on. We’re not really going to know if he can do it consistently until he’s been in the lineup longer and put in another preseason. Slaf is still a kid. Stick with the plan, continue to build on players strengths and develop their weaknesses. No doubt a few unexpected trades or changes will happen, and of course we want to get better as a team. Just be careful not to trade a 1st 2nd or 3rd overall pick just because you couldn’t wait for the growth to come. The last thing we want to see is all three to hit their straps like their flashes have shown signs of, only to have to face them because we could wait.

  24. You definitely do that deal for Dobson. We've seen Laine's issues now. There's nothing there 5v5. Nyi would not make that deal imo.

  25. To be honest, people who are complaining about what Laine said are complete morons. What a betrayal😮😮😮. Shut t f up, parasites. This kind of environment in MTL is like 50% why Habs suck. When there is a money ceiling and you can't only buy the best players habs are doomed. Cuz the toxic environment gonna be always an obstacle in a path to became successful, confident, consistent team.
    Fans should think about it.

  26. Anyone who says they didn't expect Laine to have some ups and downs is lying or clueless. We got swept off our feet because Laine had a huge impact right away when he returned, so we forgot that he might still need time to reach his full potential.

  27. Laine had a lot to prove before teams will consider him. If it’s Laine + Matheson + 2nd round pick I could see them taking this. Gives a replacement for Dobson, adds scoring and a future. And if you’re Montreal you have to make that trade. Dobson is a proven star desenseman.

  28. It’s time now for me to unsubscribe. To even have such a ridiculous talk as if Lou and the Ilsanders are morons and even consider such a stupid trade. You are just out of serious topics and simply wanting to get clicks. See ya….
