With the Hartman suspension in place, I wanted to look at the longest in league history.

Is that a geeky jersey?
Still not over San Jose picking upp Raffi Torres, didn't like him before we did that and definitely not afterwards
Every time someone says someone should be suspended for a season or half season, I always think “are they as bad as raffi Torres”
This is my first video watching you from your new studio/studio angle and it reminds me so much of your old one from around the time I first started watching! Very fun!
FREE RAFFI
chris simon passed away less than a year ago….
2 things, you're the first person I've ever heard call Raffi Torres useful in any context other when you needed a good player injured.
Second, I'm shocked you just kinda glossed over McSorley's incident. He was convicted of assault, his suspension was adjusted to a full season on top of the 23 games. Also, all nhl teams essentially had an under the table agreement to never sign him after he was reinstated.
Ah man. If ever there was a video i would have liked some highlighrs for it would be this one haha
I wanted to see him get a 41 game suspension since that's the second time he's used a faceoff to blindside a player that he knew would not be defending themselves.
I hit my head on the tile floor of our middle school gym because I had a brain tumor and let me tell you, smashing your head into a floor is one of the worst experiences possible. Luckily Stutzle was starting from pretty low and without a ton of momentum. Its hard to have any sympathy for Hartman.
Looking back on the Bertuzzi incident there is no good guy. Bertuzzi is of course a scumbag for hitting a guy from behind, but it was being done in retaliation of Moore blindsiding another player with a elbow to the jaw as they skated past. You cant say that either player was doing it without the intent to injure because they clearly were taking some very dangerous shots at guys with hits to the head that are known for rendering people unconscious on impact, and then once struck they fall completely uncontrolled to the frozen rock below.
Whenever everyone is a dirtbag, its hard to say who is the cleanest. If they could have somehow collided in a perfectly timed double dirty blindside and mutually broke their necks I think hockey would have actually reached a state of zen.
A brief NHL stint, but I remember watching Dale Purinton get kicked out of the ECHL for going crazy. I was at the game. He got kicked out for multiple fights, one of which he slammed a guy to the ice, and punched a ref. Then he came back onto the ice after getting kicked out, and ripped all his gear off. He was skating around trying to fight anyone. Once the refs intervened, he got his stick and tried to attack the coach of the other team. Eventually the refs and a few of HIS OWN teammates got him off the ice with no further incidents. It was the craziest thing I had seen. I remember Purinton got suspended in the NHL for eye gauging Colton Orr.
I'm sure Hartman would have gotten more games if Stützle had been seriously injured. Fortunately he just took a couple of stitches, but, looking at it, it could have been a lot worse. I guess 10 games is maybe a baseline for reckless intent to injure (for a guy with a previous record), and, had there been serious damage, then more games accordingly.
McSorely to this day still blames Brashear. He is such a scumbag its hard to comprehend.
His defense of "he didnt follow the code" and "If he wasnt such a big doo doo head who was good at his job and making fun of me for being bad at my job, I wouldnt have had to commit armed battery" is the classic rationale that only holds up for boomer hockey fans and the supreme court of Kindergarten.
Raffi Torres's suspensions were so bad they were funny how a**holeish they were
Itchy & Scratchy!!!
Mcsorley is still unapologetic for the Brashear incident. Truly one of the biggest pieces of shit to step on the ice.
Im surprised no domi on here
Pinto near the top of the list for betting on football amongst these goons lol. Holy fuck NHL… Take a draft pick or something eh… oh wait.
Love shoresey 😂
That cross-check from Boulerice on Kesler was ridiculous. They were right next to the net, and Boulerice basically slashed him in the neck. Yet… the puck was coming back to the neutral zone😮😮
There is a scary amount of Vancouver Canucks on this board either being suspended or victimized
Do modern CBAs have provision for life suspension?
Brad marchand literally choked a guy on the sens in front of the ref and the NHL didn't do anything that's crazy to me
Im pretty sure prior to the Turheon hit Hunter had already been suspended a game or two earlier in the series for firing the puck into the Islanders bench after the final buzzer because he was angry the Caps lost. The dude had anger and self control issues.
Itchy and Scratchy jersey goes HARD
Mr. Hockey Guy, where’s the old set up?
Being a Wild fan I just can’t help but throw up my hands looking at what Hartman did and think “yes, but a known punk rookie took out Spurgeon and got a slap on the wrist”
Is that Doctor Who lampshade??!! That is awesome!
Did you mention Tom Wilson? I missed one… If I remember, he has had a few 'incidents'.
I think Hunter would have gotten longer had it been nowadays. That was a brutal cheapshot and back then they didn't always suspend people for as long
It's crazy how many of these involved Canuck players in one way or another…
I loved Dale Hunter in the Nords, Caps and Avalanche, everywhere he went. there will never be another guy like him, no enforcer has ever had the talent to score 1000+ points while getting 3563 PIM, and he was damn efficient in the playoffs (118 pts, 727 PIM lol), but I will be disgusted at that hit on Pierre Turgeon as he was celebrating, having just eliminated the Caps, I was a big fan of Turgeon as a kid, he never was a 140 pts guy ever after that hit either afterwards, he was still good, but it took out some of his overall game. I can understand being mad for being eliminated, but Charging a guy after he's celebrating a series ending goal as his teammates were going to meet him, Hunter lost his mind there, and he typically knew when to fight or to deliver the hits, that was just ugly.
Check out the video where Downey drops Boulerice. My favourite all time fight
Shoresy Got the banned
I’m surprised Dave Brown isn’t on the long suspension list. The cross check to Tomas Sandstrom in 87 was brutal.
That itchy and scratchy jersey is fire 🔥
R.I.P Chris Simon
Go to Rick Rowley's page for the craziest suspension in nhl history; 2 years from 1 arena. 😂😂😂
Re: the Marty McSorley suspension, I feel like some context was missed. McSorley and Brashear fought early in the game, with Brashear winning. He taunted the Bruins bench on the way to the box. Later, Brashear injured Byron Dafoe, resulting in Dafoe being stretchered off the ice. For the rest of the game, McSorley tried to engage with Brashear again, but Brashear refused. Then with 4.6 seconds to go in regulation, McSorley struck Brashear in the head with his stick.
You forgot Tom Lysiak. 20 games 4 tripping a ref
McSorley being 23 games is an understatement, it was only that much because no one would sign him. His suspension was actually extended to a calendar year, not gametime.
Kept waiting to see Dennis Wideman’s suspension for flattening a linesman
