Is it time to move on from Valdimir Tarasenko?

Elliotte Friedman has reported twice now that Detroit may be looking to move on from Veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko. Tarasenko, a historically consistent power forward, has not been a fit here with the Red Wings. Should the Red Wings look to move him? What can we expect in return? Would you consider trading him to be ‘selling’? #LGRW.

  1. Youths taking over in DET. It’s time to move out the veteran fillers in order to make room for the up and coming youth. This may include attaching a pick but getting his 2nd year off our books I think would be a win (even if that includes getting another middling player back but a without next year on the books)

  2. Great show! Love the "trade deadline" time of the season. Sounds like "future considerations" might be accceptable in return for Tarasenko at this point. On the other hand if a contending team has a scorer go down, just ahead of March 7th that may change Taransenko's value.

  3. Healthy scratch him a couple of games and see if he gets the message. What have you got to lose. Either he responds and picks up his game or he shows that this is the true state of his game at this point of his career.

  4. I think you gotta consider the VT addition a bust at this point. You can see at times he’s really trying but it’s just not clicking for whatever reason. I feel and get a sense he’s actually starting to lose confidence out on the ice. At this point he’s truthfully a 4th liner. Disappointing 🫤🫤

  5. In a hypothetical where he'd waive his NTC to go anywhere, I wonder if Tarasenko, Veleno, a pick, and maybe one more item could get us Cozens.

  6. 15:10 –>> Alexander Holtz a 7th round pick? No, he was 7th overall, many discussed actually who would get picked first as a swede, him or Raymond… So HUGE diffrence😅😅😅

  7. Honestly, it doesn't matter what we hypothetically get for Tarasenko. IF we got a few picks, we can turn those into a rental. IF we get a player in return, that's fine too. Our return shouldn't be viewed on buyer or seller, it should just be about finding a deal that makes sense for us and Tarasenko.

  8. Sure we can trade tarasenko. But don’t give up picks. I have to say tho it seems like he just can’t get over a slump. I can see him going on a streak. But till then he needs to be lower on the lines.

  9. Y E S ! ! ! Get rid of him – even for ‘future considerations’! I guarantee – any forward prospect vacancy play better than this Stevie Yzerman retirement baby!!!

  10. It sure is. It’s also time to move on from Ras, Holl, Copp, and Valeno. They may produce depth scoring somewhere else in the league, but it sure isn’t with the Red Wings.

  11. Tarasinkhole should definitely be gone … his point production fell of a cliff and Stevie Y made a bad investment
that is not paying off at all!

Hell never be worth more than he is right now and the Wings will have to absorb the loss that it takes to get him off the roster!

  12. Tarasenko seems to be the equivalent of the Tiger's Javier Baez. A move to another team might be good for Tarasenko because he just isn't making any headway here in Detroit

  13. No contender will want Tarasenko, he would be a liability. He isnt scoring and has lost his confidence. The biggest problem with him is, McLellan feels like he has to play him up in the lineup to get him going. He has been on a line with Cat instead of Kane. If that continues, that not only hurts Kane but also the team. When Kane was firing on all cylinders with the coaching change, the duo of Cat and Kane were on fire. Since Kane came back from injury, Kane has been relegated to the 3rd and 4th line, which has hurt him and the team. All because McLellan feels the pressure to get an underperforming Tarasenko going. If Steve can pull a miracle and trade him, that would be great. Unfortunately, its looking more and more like another bad signing aka Copp and Holl, that we r going to have to live with. Either a buyout, a trade where we pay someone to take him, or eat the contract and hope he finds his game.

  14. It reminds me of cat last year. Just can't find the back of the net. I think we should atleast give him the rest of the season.

  15. I hold on to Darren McCartys advice "listen to what Steve Yzerman says" – What did he say? "Im looking for Players that fit into our Cup Window" -So what does this mean? No trades just to push the team over the line for one season. Trades will be unlikely

  16. I said at the beginning of the year that Tarasenko would be lucky to get 15 goals. That looks like a lock. I admit he is playing better the last few games. He needs to be more in the bumper slot for him to score. Him shooting from the wing slot is unproductive for him.

  17. I'm the wrong person to ask about dumping players, since I always love my guys. Left up to me, we'd still have Walt McKechnie and JP LeBlanc as third line forwards.

  18. Tarasenko should want to be moved too. Its no shame on him. He is just being out played by others on our team. He is a good player, and this season shouldn't ruin his career.
As long as we arent losing in the trade, we should. It sucks for all involved.

  19. Gustafson has been playing well. Dmen dont have to score. Look at karlson on pitt. He isnt a dman, he is a forward playing defense. Gustafson has been solid since todd took over. Sieder doesnt score much either. Are you saying sieder needs to play better?
A scoring dman is great, but you dont have dmen as scorers.

  20. I don't understand why they signed him in the first place. Sign an old forward rather than move young forwards up in the lineup to hasten their development. Enough signing old retreads.

  21. Tarasenko will be kept which would be fine except McLellan hates Kane and is using Tarasenko to bury him. This will create major problems in the final stretch.

Also I feel like this Tarasenko speculation lately is from outsiders seeing Senko on Kane's line even with Kane back and figuring they must be showcasing him for a trade. These folks just don't understand that McLellan hates 88.

  22. He can't shoot, He can't control a pass, he can't skate, he can't put the biscuit in the basket so what's wrong? He fits into the Yzerman 100-year plan. I'm 81, how's my future fandom look?

  23. I think in Senko’s position, you have to understand the structure switch has to be brutal. He’s been bouncing around the league since 22-23 and now he’s on a team that’s had a lot of changes happening this year. I’m personally fine chalking it up in simple terms to an adjustment change with him. My unprofessional opinion is that he’s going to continue to get better gradually under Mclellan and I believe we should keep him. If we do, by the end of the year I could see him getting back to top form come playoffs (HOPEFULLY).

  24. Not really impressed with him, very bland, his shots even look boring … I thought this guy was a sniper just not seeing it, set aside the fact he's not scoring, lets just focus my comment on his shot which frankly ain't too impressive for his hype. I think he got lucky in St. Louis days and that carried him…
