Is Weeger a more skilled player than Doughty at this stage of their careers? Yes. But it's not all about skill. Doughty has been a captain of a Cup winner (2 times I believe) and has a ton of experience. You need a veteran presence who has won championships in your locker room. In the 90s, it was easy to pick a team, because a lot of the top players in their primes were captains of their respective teams. Now, it's a lot more tricky. I hated Doughty in the early 2010s, but I respect what he's accomplished. Nothing against Weeger. He'd be a good choice. But Doughty has been there and knows what it takes. Just his presence on the bench could be helpful.

Dobson and Bouchard would be ahead of him on any list anyway!
If Doughty is at 50% or better, you take him over Weegar all day. You guys are blinded by bias…big time.
You don’t want him to waste a great week of rest and relaxation on a big nothing tournament. Banning Russia, this tournament should be played in pride jerseys.

Someone is gonna get injured in this tournament, the less players a team has there, the better.
