Regarding Matt Miller, Alex your analysis on the Cardinals in general is, I would argue, the best out there. You know the roster and I for one nearly always agree with you on things like where the main roster weaknesses are and what the team needs to be trying to do wrt what the winning teams in the league are doing. Not trying to throw shade at Matt Miller, but it seems to me like every year he mocks players to the Cardinals that, to me, just don’t make sense, which indicates to me that he doesn’t really know the Cards roster very well. Case in point, he mocked DBs to the Cardinals with their first two picks this year. That is indefensible, and it’s like that every year with him. I just don’t get it.
Alex, if the Cards spend and upgrade the DLine should they ignore FA Oline and just draft Banks or Membou?
This superbowl reminded me in a lot of ways of the Giants vs Patriots SB played in Glendale back in 2008 ish. The Patriots were undefeated going in, but the Giants defensive front 4 was so beastly and better than the Patriots Oline, that the Patriots simply couldn’t do anything on offense. Brady had no time, even without a blitz, and the Giants pulled it out.
The Cardinals have a great GM check they have have a good coach and good coaches check culture check but they need upgrades on Defense and offensive lineman . But sorry we won’t get any better without a better quarterback. k1 chokes all the time.
I say get Sweat and another Veteran Defensive players in free agency and draft a O line
Howie Rosen drafts best available and only trades back when he knows his guy(or 2) is going to fall to him. But whatever move he makes he gets best available. He might be the source of leaks about a potential draft player he wants, just to taint his image and draft character.
I was listening to NFL Radio while out and about. It amazes me how the pundits continue to say the same stupid things about a loss that was dictated in the trenches. They kept saying that Mahomes "didn't play well". That's a worst case scenario of how good-to-great QBs look when their OL is failing in pass blocking, especially against only 4 rushers. Keim never put money into the trenches. Build up the trenches. There was a statement made that the Eagles OL averages 6'5" and 340 lbs(?). Grrrrr. Yes!
Let's put it this way. Kyler was getting pressure similar to Mahomes yesterday, but against the *Seahawks*.
Monti was part of that front office that traded Brown to the Eagles.. Monti has been below average on being the cards GM.. passed on Anderson.. and got handed Harrison but will he be the best out of many great so far WR’s in that draft… he’s like 4 from that draft..other picks under preformed..
Alex that's not true, there are 4 spots that this team needs to address and if they can fill them with the right guys, then this team is within one season of competing for a Lombardi Trophy. I know that this is a lot to say but hear me out. We need to replace RT & one of our Guards (maybe both), we'll also need an Edge & DL. You fill those 4 spots with the right guys and we're off to the races. Of course, we'll add in an OLB & WR3 (burner like C. Kirk) and the rebuild is finished. In free agency sign Trey Smith G from KC (plug & play for next 10 years) then sign an Edge or DL (M. Williams, J. Sweat, H. Reddick, K. Mack) and in the draft you focus on DL, OL & Edge in the first 3 rounds. DL: Grant, Nolan or Harmon. Edge: there's no less than 11 guys who will go in the first 2 rounds so it comes down to whoever Monti values most. OL: this is where if we land the right player, he'll be a starter for years to come and can make us a top 5 OL Unit. In rounds 4 – 7 you get a WR, OLB, DL & QB. It all starts in free agency and who we sign in that period. Monti can make it happen but before we talk to Trey Smith, the Myles Garrett sweepstakes has to be resolved. I don't want to hear any more of this "we're not close to competing". We most certainly are close, look at Philly last year, their Defense was bottom 5 and they turned it around in one season. 4 positions were all that it took and now they're Super Bowl Champions. They signed Zack Baun & Saquon Barkley in FA & drafted 2 really good rookie DB's in DeJean & Mitchell. Alex, the Cardinals are in such an awesome position going into free agency, with approximately 72 million in available cap space and a good spot in the draft, we can go after any player we want.
You need Dawgs to do that. Roseman does what I have said for years. He doesn't care about drafting guys later for their special teams ability. He goes after Dawgs at all levels of the team. Doubles up on corner in the 1st. DTs in the 1st. Edges in the 1st and 2nd. He stockpiles no matter what. High picks everywhere and brings them back. While occasionally finding gems later.
Most super bowl team built their offense and defensive lines. Then build working away from the line and the QB falls in place.
If you watched them last year that’s definitely not the case. Learn some ball
