Leafs have LTIR space. Kampf and Jarnkrok are expendable. Same with some fo the depth D-Men that are hanging on the roster specifically to protect cap space. The trading team can cover 50% and they could add a 3rd team to take another 25%. There are options available. It is not like Laughton is expensive. He is marginally more than Kampf.
Jesus its not rocket science and resign Tavaris he wants to stay in Toronto he will sign for under 5 mill for two years then trade for a second line center now Mat murray is off the books the end of this year at 3.1 mill and jarncrock is off the books also at the end of this year to so wait till dead line sign a couple of players in there last year of contract because being over the cap during playoffs does not count for the reg season as long as those new players you signed are no longer with the team over the summer that way you are still cap compliant come start of new season or put Marners injury on long term injury reserve that frees up 10 .4 mill take that money go sign 2 significant players at dead line and bring back Narner for the playoffs problem solved they would not be the only team to pull that stunt

I like the idea of a Cozens trade but after last nights horrible game against the Canucks . Maybe a a Reilly trade is needed , I feel he needs a breath of fresh air and a change of scenery would help .
There’s no way I’m giving a top prospect for Laughton alone . Add Ristolainen and I would. You can probably get Laughton for a 2nd round pick , and holmberg.

Where would the leafs be this year without Domi being ok with moving all over the lineup and filling holes in the middle and on the wing. He also produced next to Matthews last season and playoffs and will fill in for marner if he leaves. Trading a character toronto guy like Domi would be brutal for that lockerroom and be bad Karma. Also trading a guy a year into an extension affects agent/player negotiating on July first. It's simply bad management practice and doesn't go unnoticed
