I've said it before, but I'll say it again: If Ovechkin didn't have his otherworldly shot, he could have made it to the NHL as a playmaker. People who watch him closely know how often he threads absolute lasers through traffic, and no one really cares about it most of the time because they're waiting for him to score another goal.
Overrated Capitals Lose, Ovechkin is a dullard and Washington DC is a Loser Blue city.

Ok since its nhl posting this and not some random hockey fan, A hat trick of assists is already a thing its called a playmaker. They have patches for it and everything in youth hockey. You should know tgis and do better nhl you dont need to dumbify the sport.

Wow. That last goal he totally meant to shoot that towards Wilsonβs feet. What a feed! Very unselfish of him not to try and score from there despite doing it all year, while chasing Gretzkyβs goal record.

Calling first one an assist is a stretch. idk if it officially counts as one, but in other sports it wouldn't. Clear attempt to score, then lucky rebound, then another rebound and only then a goal lol.
Predicting angry comments – I am not hating on Ovi, he is one of my favorites and I am a Capitals 'fan' (don't watch many of their games, but follow the team from time to time).

He could had 4 but Chychrun missed his opportunity on OT! Caps have 80 points and are 1st in the east, now time to enjoy a well earned break & watch the 4 nations cup.
People complain he's become an empty-net merchant, but it's not like he was randomly assigned that job. You score 800+ goals, you just might be in that position too. You have to deserve it. Besides, he has also been getting plenty of assists on ENGs. If anything, he has become less selfish over the years.
It looks like NHL will post a video of all Ovis goals, if he ever breaks the record.
Happy for Ovechkin, becuase he is not pursuing the record at all, but playing fot his game, for the team, great Athlete
