Shorthanded Penguins Defeat Rangers At The Garden | New York Rangers

After going up by a goal in the 2nd period the Pittsburgh Penguins would lock down on defense and not have a single shot attempt in the 3rd period to come away with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers at The Garden. The Penguins were without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin for the first time in nearly 4 years and were still able to pull off the victory. The Rangers are right back at it tomorrow night in Columbus to take on CBJ.

  1. Mika isn't the player he was. Kreider isn't the player he was. JT can't fix lazy. LafrenWHO? Lindgrenburg going down in flames. "Best" Goalie in the NHL not going to the playoffs. very limited hitting and passion… I'm done with this product. Mats Zuccarello

    around?

  2. The worst loss of the season. Pittsburgh outworked the Rangers in the first two periods. Turning point of the game: the horrible, lazy backcheck by Lafrenière on the 2nd Pittsburgh goal.

  3. Kreider, Zibanejad, Laffy, & Panarin… All need to sit games after that piss-poor, weak, effort!!… Period!… End of Story!… Case-Closed!

  4. This was a tough loss. The Refs gave Rangers opportunities to get the game back even in the 3rd its a fck puck sometimes it does not even bounce….Pens are not better than the Rangers but one would not know that watching this game.

  5. för 1 sekund sedan

a totally unacceptable effort and result if this team want to make the playoffs.

season is for sure over now…they had patience with this coach but hes had SO MUCH TIME its insane, over 50 games nothing it working he HAS TO GO NOW, even if it wont save this season it has to happen long term…
this team is BY FAR the most underachiving team in the entire NHL, that is on management and the coaching staff, the structure do NOT work, they cant fire the players…

time to FIRE THE COACH! BYE BYE PETER! BY BYE!! >GOOD BYE !!

  6. All the stars and none of the chemistry. Fox is not a 1D, not even on his best day. Up and down this roster all you see is square pegs in round holes. The coach and GM are both clueless.

  7. Why does Fox look like his puppy just got hit by a car 10 times. Missing a shot shrugs his shoulders to the ice. COMMON! Get a sports psychologist or something.

  8. Laviolette should have been fired already. The team is slow with the puck. Even if they have the puck, they are waiting until the other team settles in their zone. Defense- offense transition doesn't exist. This is exactly the same maladie that Capitals suffered under this coach. It can't be a freaking coincidence.
On top of that, Shesterkin looks out of position every game. The season is over. Let some competent coach build something for the new season.

  9. JT comes in, no practice with the new team….. 2 goals, 2 assists in first two games. Gets to practice with the team..0 points in two games……..maybe it’s the coaches or the system that is the problem.

  10. This is a coaching problem. When a team is going right call a time out and read them the riot act. They don’t deserve a playoff spot

  11. WTH Rangers?!?! You all take the night off? Wheres the hunger, the fire? Look Idl how long Im gonna be around but I want to see another Stanley Cup. So stop F$'&ing around and play every game like it's your last!!
    LETS GO RAAANGERS!!!!

  12. Lav is bad on line-up management…he thinks if you barely win, don't change a thing. shoulda played quick on a back to back against the "weaker team", this would be a great opportunity to use your 4 centers, on a line of their own. Also if you have rempe in your line-up, put his big ass on the PP2 and park him in front of the net. You have only 2 games before the break, put kaliev in again, see what brannstrom looks like. Not to say the results would be different but shake it up alil

  13. Was at the game last night, last time i waste my money supporting this team who show zero heart. This is the season ender right here…

  14. This is a first time in 20 years when I do not watch the Rangers and honestly I don't care. I watched up until they had a breakdown, this team is awful. Rangers time and again give huge contracts to goalies who can get them to playoffs but goalies DO NOT win you a cup. Big centers win you the cup! McDavid, McKinnon, Barkov, our centers are measly outside of JT Miller.

  15. I've been a Rangers fan for 50 years and this season so far has been probably the most frustrating in all those years and that's saying something.
They have had their share of bad seasons over the years but this one is different because it's obvious that it's a problem of will and/or chemistry and most certainly not lack of talent.
It seems to me that they decided to take a season off after winning the President's Trophy and making a long playoff run last spring.
Yesterday's loss to a depleted Pittsburgh lineup in the context of a playoff chase is- to quote Laviolette- unacceptable.
And yet….They did it again in front of their fans on top of everything.
Frankly it's not a stretch to imagine that they really don't want to make the playoffs at all and are satisfied to look like they are trying every other game while going through the motions the next.
    Very disappointing team over all.
