What’s missing from Connor Bedard’s game?

It’s the Connor vs. Connor showdown in Chicago tonight as McDavid and the Oilers come to town to face Bedard and the Blackhawks. Bryan Hayes and Bruce Boudreau join Domino’s That’s Hockey to discuss what’s missing from Bedard’s game at this point and if he’ll make Canada’s Olympic roster in 2026.

  1. When your linemates are Slaggert and Donato, how are you supposed to produce? I've never even heard of Slaggert before!

  2. For me a similar comparison of a young player playing on a poor team and with how good he is, turning his team around is Tim Stutzle . The Senators haven't made the playoffs since 2017, and this kid is it going to put them in this year. Interestingly I wonder if Travis Greene would trade Stutzle straight up for Bedard?

  3. These guys should be more concerned with the 51st state still having their own team for the Olympics. đŸ‡ș🇾

As far as Bedard goes, heres some contex thru their first 100 games: Bedsy 88, McDavid 108, Ovi 128, Sid 132… So he's not far off considering his linemates are 7/11 employees

  4. If you agree with this analysis, it means these “experts” hyped a mediocre player. Again. If you disagree, it means they’re backpedaling on a good take. Either way, they’re making a case to stop listening to them. They’re just guessing.

  5. Those criticizing Bedard are also ignorant about statistics
Bobby Hull as an 18 and 19 year old had 30 goals across 140 games
Connor Bedard at the same age across 123 games already has 37 goals
I rest my case

  6. Bedard has more points than Bobby Hull had at the same age and Bobby Hull became a Blackhawk God
Bedard will score 50 or more goals in his fourth or fifth season and this criticism of Bedard is being made by individuals who are not the smartest bulbs 💡 in the room

  7. Guy playing with burtuzzi and foligno lol and already has over 100 career points if he hade more skill around him he be racking twice as much

  8. He had a mean edge in the WHL, once he feels comfortable in the NHL and grows into a man, bedsy will be a force

  9. Bedard is not a goal scorer. He's more of a setup player. I don't see him scoring 30+ goals in a season.

  10. Mcdavid scored 100pts and won a hart at the same age. His most frequent linemate that year was Patrick Maroon. Quit the excuses. He was compared to mcdavid in his draft year, he simply hasn’t lived up to the hype

  11. These so called hockey 'specialists' seem to forget Bedard is still only 19 and has no one with him. Compared to what Celebrini and Michkov its not even close to the same thing.

  12. The media is super annoying when it comes to Bedard, this guy just got into the league.

  13. Conner Bedard is 5'9" and 185lbs. Ovi is 6'3" and 235lbs. You can't compare the two physically. If nobody's afraid of Bedard why don't give him some open ice? Because he'd put the puck in the back of net very quickly, that's why. Teams do build their game plans around stopping him. Hence they are afraid of him.

  14. Pissed off your CAD fell? Become the 51st state and watch your taxes go down! Maybe players will want to go play in CA afterward, too!

  15. Bedard can't play D or win gaceoffs. Hawks GM Davidson should trade him sooner than later. I want to win games, not a popularity contest.

  16. He needs a partner right now to develop the Hawks. For Instance, Crosby and Malkin, Ovechkin and Backstrom, Pasternak and Marchand and in the past Kane and Toews from the previous Hawk championships. He's out there alone trying to develop his game and other teammates have been playing complementary hockey this season.

  17. Wonder how many good players could’ve been in 4 nations face off and Olympics and other events if it wasn’t for people like this

  18. I would venture a guess, quality players around him?
ChiCHawks bring him in and expect him to carry the team to the playoffs.
That's a BIG ASK for anyone.
Start putting Quality Players and Play makers around him, you'll see the kid shine. Don't and reap what you sow. A Waste.

  19. So many triggered by criticism of Bedard. He was called a generational talent, of course he deserves this. Damn snow flakes these days.
