Sens are 4th in the league in PP opportunities, they are 15th in the league in PP% at 22.2.
A good spot? Out of the top three in the division and into the rat race that is the wild card spots.
How much do sens save on cap if they send Forsy to Belleville and nobody claims him and then bring up Leevi
Guys are making a real good case that the Sens, f they make the playoff, will be out in 4 games.
I think the cap should only apply to the roster of each game. What does in matter if you have five 10 million dollar guys sitting in the press box? And that should be the same for the playoffs.

Can't they put Cousins on LTIR to get more cap space. Their biggest problem is carrying both injured players and their replacements on the active roster.
I think the Sens respected Tampa's game way too much and got away from their game to try and play Tampa's style which is the opposite of what good teams do. Good for the team to learn from but very disappointing they didn't try and force Tampa into adjusting their game to play the Sens style
I agree we are technically in a good spot right now standings wise – we control our destiny. But, roster-wise LOSP we have a big problem. We need to talk about the way this team is still being managed. Staios in my view had the perfect opportunity to move on from Norris after he had played 41 games and had some decent stats. You had to know, coming in to this season, we would be vulnerable at C. If Norris goes down and Pinto either can’t deliver or also goes down, our enter Center depth is gone and that will mean losing hockey games. They played it too patient here and now, in my view, Norris is not possible to trade without giving up massive concessions that hurt the club. When petersson became available and with Norris and Hughes being buddies, Staios needed to pursue a deal there as hard as possible and throw in whatever was needed to get it done. Norris, a first and Gaudette could have been a realistic deal – or Norris, batherson and a 3rd for pettersson. Those would have been excellent deals for us, we ditch two regular underperformers, Norris’ bad contract and lack of dependability, Batherson who will ask for too much money and not be worth resigning – for a legit 1C. Either way – whether for pettersson or not it was important for this team to get out from our C position right now and out from that bad Norris contract. Yet here we are and in my opinion, this could kill the season – and was just poor management from a club that is just still a bit too nice to the players. Vegas is the gold standard you build to win .
The past 2 games have shown how playoff-ready certain players are. While both games were decided losses. The untested core (anyone who hasn't played in the playoffs) now all understand that they're still developing.
The development curve continues, led by the coaching staff, and I expect that to continue to improve in-game for the remainder of the season.
While adding someone would be nice, I need to see in 2 weeks when you hope some on IR return.
This season so far can be broken into easy monthly installments, showing continuous improvement, and the team in a playoff-like schedule. Their quick repeating against the West this year, as well as a favorable April, ensures they will continue the playoff-like schedule and atmosphere until the end of the season.
Forsberg,Perron,and a pick for Mantha and a league minimum goalie they have 2 of them.Forsberg is an upgrade for them.
Then really try to make a trade work with Winnipeg for Morgan Barron,an RFA
Move a couple good prospects and a roster player like Greig or a player of choice.
Obviously I would have loved a better result, but there's no shame in losing to Tampa.
They have a top-5 (arguably top-3) goalie, forward, and defenceman on their roster…and that doesn't include a top forward for team USA and 3 players who made team Canada. Nasty group when you think about it.
That said, the boys still have a chance to go into the break with a win.

Ross Timmy was shooting for Amadio stick, that was an amazing shot. Secondly, you guys are complaining about Tim Stutzle not taking shots!? Tim Stutzle is FAR out in the lead in points on this team. He is the #1 playmaker, which is exactly what a #1 C does. He draws defenders, and creates space and passes to let others finish. Also, Timmy does have many goals and I would not be surprised to see him finish with 25-30 and 82+ points here. Keep in mind he’s playing with absolute dogs on his wings that can’t keep up, that includes BRADY who has essentially zero skating. Watch Bobby Ryan’s video – Brady skates like Bobby Ryan. And if shooting was the issue with Timmy well then surely Brady’s high shot count would lead to…. Oh wait, his points suck too. Brady is 12 points behind Timmy, is a +1 where Timmy is a +4, and only has 3 more goals than Timmy (three of which were rebounds from Timmy shots and entirely driven by Tim’s play, not Brady’s). Zac Macewen can stand in front of the net and bang in rebounds, as can Gaudette. Oh and Brady has double the shots that Timmy does – with significantly less production. So I had to call this out boys because we gotta give our heads a shake – there are holes on this team but Tim Stutzle not shooting isn’t one of them. Here’s another point, Timmy is the most defended player on this team, they often assign two defenders to him, because they don’t even register Brady, Giroux, batherson, Gaudette etc – these other guys, as threats. They know these guys aren’t skating like Tim so they cheat on Defense with them and sure enough it works. Tim Stutzle would shoot far more if he was in a position where it wouldn’t get wasted, but what he’s doing is actually reading the play and making good decisions. That might be why he’s the only PPG player on the entire team….. so I think let’s spend some time criticizing the players that need to be called out: Brady, batherson, Norris, ercetera. Norris is a -6! 31 points in 50 games. Batherson, -6! Sanderson, -14! And if we wanna blame
Hamonic? Oh he’s a -10. Better than Sanderson. Perron -8, Grieg -10. The list goes on. It’s very obvious who is underperforming. The only highly paid players on this team living up to their contracts are Tim Stutzle and Thomas Chabot. You can make an argument for batherson because he’s only at 5.5M so he’s cheap for 44 points so far but look at his play, ineffective so, I’d argue still a problem. Then we get to Brady, the captain, who, in my view has not delivered those ‘intanginbles’ that make up for his lack of skating and offensive skill. I’d love to hear the counter points to this but I think we should rerun these takes – fan base needs to start putting the pressure where it’s deserved.

Tampa showed the Sens how far they still need to go to be a legit cup contender. I think we got a little ahead of ourselves when the Sens were in 3rd. I agree with Ross, but at the end of the day I just want the Sens to make the playoffs. I don't care where we are in the standings. I've been saying for a while that the Sens need actual NHL players on the roster

We have 1 game left before a long break, after which we'll likely have a relatively healthy roster with Pinto, Norris and Gregor back. We cannot trade 1st round picks at this point. Our starter has health issues. We can't afford to get top talent unless you trade a big piece that we just don't have. Most we can afford to offer is around a 3rd

Forsberg had good games id rather have forsberg and merilainen he should be first string first goalie period!!!! We need to keep playing leevi to find out just how good he is play him every night merilainen for mayor of sens town! Go merilainen go!!!!!!!!!! This kids a real phenom!
You guys are crazy when it comes to Forsberg. He's a backup, and maybe his contract is a bit heavy, but he is doing his job just fine. Maybe you can find the right deal for him at the deadline, but I see no issue in playing out the season with him. He's doing just fine, and so is the team in front of him O_o.

I think with norris pinto and cousins ully in net we win both games 9 out of 10 times
Sucks to lose that nice comfortable spot at 3rd in the Atlantic, we clearly lost it to the better team. Just gotta hang on to that wildcard spot and push to be better.
I remain hopeful that the team will finish well but even if they do make the playoffs, to what end further embarrassment. House of cards.
