Why aren’t oddsmakers loving the Jets?

The Jets currently have a 10-point lead in their division and a seven-point edge in the Western Conference, and yet, FanDuel has five teams ahead of them in their Stanley Cup odds. Why does Winnipeg continue to be overlooked? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button examines this and if the team should consider dialing back Connor Hellebuyck’s workload.

  1. The Jets focus on players who want to be there. They learned not to beg for players to come there. Scheifele, Hellebuyck, etc, don’t play in Winnipeg, they play FOR Winnipeg.

  2. Every year 16 teams MISS the playoffs, 8 teams lose in the 1st round, 4 more lose in the 2nd round. That is 28 teams that don't make it deep in the playoffs every year. So it's easy to be negative about the Jets, along with nearly every other team in the league. A deep playoff run is very hard and the odds are against you.

  3. blah blah jets suck in the playoffs blah blah. anyone saying that needs to realize there are 32 teams a year that dont win theres literally 0 logic comparing past playoff years to a new season

  4. People need to STOP thinking the odds set by places like FanDuel are a power ranking. It has nothing to do with how good or bad a team is. At first, when betting opens up, there may be a little of that but by the time we get to this point in the season how good a team is has nothing to do with the odds. The odds are set by how much is being bet on a team. The more that goes bet on a team lowers the odds. This is done to make sure that no matter who wins, the odd makers are still going to make money.

If you think FanDuel has it wrong, go put some money on the jets.

  5. Maybe cos they left first round last season after a great season. We see a star studded Leafs team itching to golf right after their 80th season game.

  6. Successful small market teams aren’t good for any professional sports league. Hundreds of millions on the line. Much more money to be made with NY vs LA than Wpg vs Ott in the Stanley Cup Finals. I’m not saying things are fixed, but the playing fields are tilted nonetheless. NHL has the greatest parity though and as a Jets fan, this will be the first time I lay down my hard earned dollar on ‘em. Our squad is the real deal. I can’t see any team beating them in seven if they’re healthy.

  7. It’s actually stupid how so many doubt the Jets just because of 2 consecutive first round exits. The Leafs did this for almost 2 decades straight and they’re still “cup favourites” each year. Make it make sense!! 😂

  8. The JETS dont get the odds-makers respect because they KNOW the JETS choke big, usually starting after the allstar break(4 nations cup this year).

  9. People forget that both years they got rounded by Vegas, JMO, Ehlers, SCHEIF and Connor not all at once but I know all of them had some injury issues at some point. PLD was still on the team in the 2 Vegas series they got rounded in 😂. Unfair comparison, team with Kevin stenlund at 2C pre much.

Last year’s loss concerning but most games were collapses in the 3rd from pims just a rough week

  10. Because you guys are elitist assholes, who think that nothing exists outside of Toronto as well as other places that think that Canada is a punching bag for the US

  11. Part of the problem is playoff success although the Jets did go to the third round in 2018 I’ll be with a different team, but some of the most core guys are still on a team. I think the Jets need to address any weaknesses they have before the playoffs and hopefully this time they’ll go all the way.
