  1. Shane Wright sucks. Slafkovsky goes from beast to beast mode next season. SlafBeast does more than put up points for habs.

  2. Montreal has a reputation for messing up their first round picks. They should give the consolidated list of prospects to the receptionist and have her pick the first round pick, we'd have a much better team already.

  3. Slaf really needs to be better. Not looking like a good pick so far…..but it's still early.

  4. Its way too early to juge. Remember what people where saying about a guy like Jack Hughes after 2 seasons, and saying he’s a bust. And also remember that bigger players take longer to “cook”. Tage Thompson comes to mind. Took him about 5 seasons to start to get going.

Slaf is still adjusting to what he can do on the ice, and how to use his body, figure out his role and style. Heck, even his voice was still changing last season, now seems to be more stable and less “rough” during interviews. Any player in the league is hard to juge before they hit 24-25.

Lets not forget that when drafting, MTL was also trying to get bigger, they made that clear. Also, they were going after a guy that has intangibles in his game, to surround guys like Caufield, Suzuki, and do things that they can’t on the physical side, that you need in the playoffs. As far as comparing stats only, its missing the point with these two. I think you have to be looking ahead and see what both can bring to a game come playoff time. And also, think, if they both play against each other, which one do you want on your team. going into a corner, I think Slaf is a good bet on winning the puck against Wright. But yeah maybe Wright gets more point than Slaf at the end of their carrer. Does not mean that he’s the “best” all around player. Its going to be fun to see them in the next 3-5 years and see what they become. As of now, It just seems to early to call either the best.

  5. slaf needed some time in the ahl to marinate. the habs were so bad he made the lineup sooner than maybe he should have.

  6. You typical hab fans either love or hste Slav. And noŵ you pine over a Russian kid playing against inferior competition. We at Leafs Nation will wait for Easton Cowan he of the 64 game point streak against top junior competition 😊

  7. thumbnail is amazing but yeah slaf sucks and wright is better lol

only reason thy got demidov because columbus and chicago completely dropped the ball, hughes traded for dach and laine as well, terrible gm 😂

  8. The real question is Shane Wright better or going to be better than Nick Suzuki?

If your answer is no then MTL made the right pick.

  9. As a Habs fan Cooley was who I wanted at the time but I'm happy with Slaf. Saw Wright play in junior and he is a bit of an enigma. He can be the best player on the ice, but he can also just disappear at times. My brother in law and I both thought that he just seemed disinterested at times. I wish him the best, but I wouldn't want a franchise cornerstone that has that approach.

  10. Wright is definitely better at this point. Anyone that doesn't realize that isn't a real hockey fan. Maybe in the future that will change (I doubt it tbh) but it is possible. The worst part is that he doesn't look any better since the mid point of last year.

  11. Worth noting too that Wright is the leading power play scorer for the Kraken (who have not been great on the power play aside from him and Schwartz). He still has a rookie moment pretty much once a game but the good very much outweighs the bad and you can tell he feels comfortable with the speed of the NHL game which he couldn't handle in the year after he was drafted. You can see the hockey IQ he was noted for in that draft year starting to shine through a lot more here recently.

  12. I always thought Wright was a bigger, faster version of Patrice Bergeron……… He may not lead the league in scoring but you need guys like him to be a contender……..👍

  13. I would go with slaf even as a huge wright fan. slaf is enormous and has an insane work ethic. the intangibles that go along with his height are more valuable than anything wright has done up to this point.

  14. Cooley is better but Wright is better than Slaf.
Habs always draft wrong players except last year (by luck).
