Unfortunately, Marino rarely had a good defense and he had only one 1k yard rusher in his career. Also he played during the 80's 49ers dynasty and 90's cowboys. The odds were always against him to win a Superbowl.

Nowadays receivers do amazing acrobatic catches. Marino's receivers never had to dive for the ball. Thats why the statistics wont tell you anything. Receivers didnt do that back then.

After his first Super Bowl it was strange that 10 years had passed and no Super Bowl yet . But you still felt that it was just next year. Miami was in the playoffs every year and still couldn't get back . And through all that he was putting up Hall of Fame numbers.

As a life long New England resident we knew Dan Marino and his Dolphins all too well ! He pretty much destroyed us every season. Steve Grogan, Tony Eason, Drew Bledsoe..we seldom came out on top. What made it worse, lot of friends headed south landing in Fla. and of course they became Marino/ Dolphin fans…Amazing quarterback with a missile spiral .
Warren Moon was the only QB in his era that was close Marino when it came to pass happy numbers.

Dan Marino will always be the best pure passer ever. What he did was like micheal jordan did for basketball. Unfortunately he didn't win the superbowl but as the aspects of playing quarterback he will always live and die as the best passer for the nfl. Now a days no Qb will ever be or come close to dan marino.. the best ever

Dan Marino is the quintessential NFL quarterback. Marino could make all the throws and the most ferocious competitor on the gridiron.

Marino isn't the greatest QB to never win a Lombardi. He's the great QB to ever play. Don Shula forgot you need a stingy defense and pounding running game to win. For all appearances he made Marino the system and expected him to carry the team.
If the Dolphins would have had a decent defense in the 80’s Dan would have won a couple of rings. In my little humble opinion as a Jets fan he was the best. Marino and Ken O’Brien played some memorable games against each other.
I was a big Pittsburgh Panther fan back in the day and when I witnesses the NY Jets pass on Marino I said they with rue the day they passed on him.I think with the Defense the Jets had Marino would of won a Super Bowl or more if they had picked him.When they passes I was speechless,but that’s the same ol Jets!!
