The Canucks have found an absolute GEM in this player….

The Vancouver Canucks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-0. D-Petey was great to watch, Thatcher Demko found his stride, Filip Chytil and Drew O’Connor the new Canucks looked great as well. OVerall, the Canucks did well to shut down Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar as they get a crucial 2 points in the NHL playoff race.

  1. D Petey looked like a veteran d man out there. This kid is a diamond in the rough as he's playing with far more poise than he should have at his age. No panic, keeps things simple and plays much bigger than he is. That diving play he made was a sure goal by Makar and I'm not certain how he was able to react as quickly as he did. Hronek also looked like an elite d man. It was nice to see Brock finally get one as he's been missing far too many chances the past few games. Chytil has far more talent than I realized and he and O'Connor have a lot of speed. Demko was brilliant and I'm very happy for him as I can't imagine the uphill battles he's been faced with. Quinn not being in the lineup makes this win even more impressive. Soucy played great and it was awesome to see him protect D Petey. I'm anxious to see Mancini in the lineup sooner rather than later. According to John Shannon, many in the Rangers organization were devastated that Drury included him in the package for Miller. What is concerning is the fact that aside from EP40's face-off wins and d zone play, he wasn't noticeable at all in the offensive zone. Hopefully he had a good look at McKinnon and how a big contract player should play and carry himself. EP40 still needs to work on his strength as he falls down far too frequently for an NHL player. Boots to Blades was a long time ago.

  2. Young Elias Pettersson #25 really impressed me last night. Very smooth skater and closes distance quick…played really well and physical too.

  3. Hughes being out has forced everyone else to step up, now they just need the same effort when Huggie comes back and support him a bit.

  4. Yes, it looks like more cohesive play going on now. And we finally got some decent defending and speed up front. And bubble Demko coming up really big. 😊

  5. A gem! Ahhhhh that's so cute Deaner. What an absolute cutie pie the sneaky good Canucks have found. Enough with the girly superlatives. Its not the PWHL.

  6. D-Petey reminds me of a young Ohlund, minus the offensive chops. IMO at his peak, he'll produce a little less than Edler. Hoggy had a damn good game as well. We were pissing the Avalanche players off because we were skating with them rather than chasing them. Chytil can skate so can O'Connor. If Pettersson can get his game going we might just be dangerous.

  7. That was my first NHL game and im glad we won during the warm ups Höglander made eye contact with me which was unexpected since he is my 2nd fav player

  8. I like that the dude who almost sounds like an April fools joke (“the Canucks draft.. Elias Pettersson.. again but he’s a D man EP!”) was a very smart draft selection

  9. Drew O'Connor I wish we never traded for him he is the slowest player on the Canucks I haven't seen so many move that slow in a really really long time we traded one of our best forwards in the bottom six for this guy it would have been smarter to trade Dakota Joshua

  10. D-Petey is a keeper! Now I'm desperately hoping Petey is somehow bitten by the Chytil beetle and is infected with his speed and drive sparking the vintage alien we all know is in there somewhere to come out and join the rush the team is experiencing right now.

  11. Team's looking a lot better and more cohesive but good lord, the power play needs so much damn work. It was brutal watching that 5 on 3 and subsequent power play.
