Penguins 🐧 have to "take down house" totaly, veterans, coaches , gm and starts to build baisicly from zero. Some like what Sharks dowing right now. In WBS is now grupp of young good players. Ok, maybe you are not in business while, but slowly you starts to grow. No Rantanen no Marnier. Rantanen have ring around finger + high salary and not sou hangry anymore. Marner also high salary and he more like solo type of guy.
You need group of young hungry players with low ego and hungry coach also who motivate young players dose not punish them.
They should’ve broken up the band years ago. They’ve become the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings. It’s going to take years to recover and be competitive again.

Good morning DK, two things;
1. I agree with you completely regarding speaking about how the team played, how they feel about their game, and where their mind set is, and thank you for letting fans like myself know these type things because where I live, Langley City, BC Canada 🇨🇦, all I hear about is the Cannots, it drives me nuts!! I believe it's so important how a team feels about where their game is, how they respond to a ie shootout lose, win, etc and where their vision collectively is.
2. As for Marnier, where I've been screaming to get Sid an elite or at least very very good winger for his last 2-3 years, I guess I didn't realize how bad he's been in the playoffs. A regular season all-star but fails in the playoffs is NOT a guy you want on your team, especially if he's one of the best players looked upon. I saw this with the twins in Vancouver for far too long. So, I agree with you on him specifically. BUT, as for Rant, I'd say because we have 10, yes 10 1st-2nd picks in the next 3 years,and our Wilkes are developing to the point of pounding on the door to the show, and we still may make a trade for Raks and most likey receive a 1st or definitely a 2nd + (hopefully a 2026 bc draft is better) we have then cap space for a guy who would elevate our first line to be among the best in the league. We would have a future WITH a reputable player who, after Sid, Gino, etc, would teach the kids, and he could be the teams face which he'd never be in Colorado or Carolina. He's worth it for Sids sake, which they promised him to be competitive for his years left. What we've seen is stock pile like f'en crazy not support Sid, time to do that. Also, and regardless, but if Dubas could move Karlsson the monies there alone plus cap space of whatever trade is next and the cap going up, we could still have that space you talked about to continue to stock pile more assets. So, I respectfully disagree with you….Dubas GO GET RANT!!!!!!

J1Q … you spoke of Mitch Marner, then proceeded to talk about the Maple Leafs and how they overvalue their players and eventually overpay their players. Because of that, they can’t sign other players as they’re up against the cap.
Isn’t that exactly what the Penguins did with Erik Karlsson? It seems that anyone with a brain could’ve seen from far before this deal ever went down that Karlsson was not worth 11 1/2 million dollars. Oh yeah, he won the Norris trophy, but anybody seeing his age and how defensively porous he’s always been, should’ve thought before they acted. Maybe because Dubas came from Toronto, we’ve got the same situation here in present day.
Getting a point against the Devils is a win, I wasn't thinking last night was going to go good….I expected them to lay the prototypical egg. As a fan I would love the fairy tale ending where this team goes on a run and they make a run at the playoffs, but let's say they do make them, does this team have the depth to do anything? Do we forget the rest of the season and call the year a success, and do we forget about the two previous seasons? I saw one thing happen last night that made me think they were done, it was Sid leaving the ice with injury, and my thoughts were, can Rakell and Rust carry this team, cause there is no one else. It made me really think of the depth issue again, and simply put, its 87 and everyone else, it really is. Last night I saw two guys really struggle and fight the puck or the pace of the game, first was Karlsson, he was struggling and was off. Second was Rust, he gets exploited when teams are fast, on numerous occassions he lost the puck at crucial times of possession when pressured, and that pass to the point that missed its target by 10 feet killed all the momentum of the possession time the line was having. While I have no plans of seeing the Penguins in the playoffs, I almost hate when they break up these losing streaks cause it seems to put Dubas on pause mode. I wish he would accept this year as an epic failure and start going after really good players that fill the top six, and defensive core. If 87 leaves your lineup and the team immediately becomes an AHL squad…….then you have no depth.
I know this isn't something that happens often, but they could talk to Rantenen and offer him a great contract and trade him him to a contender later for a lot of prospects and draft picks. And that would be like getting those prospects and draft picks for free (via Free Agency). Having said that, I doubt he would sign here anyway. I'm just looking at it in a way that Pitt could make a case for wanting him in their current state.
God i hope they trade rackell and anyone else who can get us picks and prospects.
They're not competitive. Yeah, from time to time they play a decent game but they aren't a competitive team. False hope is just that. Bias and too attached.

I will never understand why the Pens have trouble continuously with the Devils. I watch them and just aren't impressed. I don't get it. Nothing about them hints at their winning record yet every year they stay on top. I don't get it.

This little break coming up for the 4 Nations Tournament is going to benefit a lot of players/teams, letting players rest and heal. Given the large number of the games and the physical nature of hockey, do you think the NHL should implement a break in the middle of every season? Maybe like a two-week break?
We are not making the playoffs. Start the rebuild. Leave crosby, malkin and letang. Everyone and I mean everyone else can and should go. Sell them for pennie’s on the dollar. Let the wilks kids come up and play with sid and geno and start to develope

Well one positive. Ned gave them a chance. Ned was what you want your starting goalie to be. This was a competitive team the Pens played tonight and they took them 7 rounds deep. They can hold their own. They now have a real starting goalie. Now they just need some consistency doing it.

Sorry, but watching Crosby, one of the greatest players in history, just casually skate down the ice and toss a wrister into the goalies pads with zero effort or concern is so pathetic. Heck, anyone on my beer league team could do that. Meanwhile Beauvillier comes down and actually dangles the goalie out of his jock. Why? Why isn’t Sid the one coming down the ice and dominating? Pisses me off.
