What I love about Bode is that I have heard commentary on his races in Italian, English and German and the commentators really got excited when he was racing. If you are an Austrian commentator you want an Austrian to win, likewise the Swiss, German, ditto the Italians. When Bode won it was welcomed like he was one of their own, such was the respect for him. I lived in the N. Italian mountains (Dolomites) and when you were in a mountain bar on a race day, everyone would be glued to the tv and when Bode won, there was applause. So respected.
