This Nashville Predators season has gone from bad to worse. After back-to-back road losses over the weekend at Buffalo (4-3) and Pittsburgh (3-0), the Predators are 16-28-7, and we are officially out of answers. That’s right; it took 51 games, but this Predators team has finally broken us. But alas, we’re still here to trudge through the rest of this disastrous season – starting with tonight’s home game against the red-hot Ottawa Senators. We preview the matchup and recap some other highlights from around the league, including a weekend trade involving a former Predators forward and a Central Division rival.

These were signature games for sure. Blanked by a mediocre Pittsburgh when the season is on the line- not acceptable. Barry got to make some changes
Ladies, great show per usual, this season is cooked. I think you need to get what you can for ROR and Gus—and get guys like Kemell and Molendyk run right now. On the one hand you can't argue with signing veteran winners like Stammer and Marchy and Skjei but that alone was never going to be enough. I think this is a multi-factorial problem with the roster and it can only be solved by an injection of young talent (that at a premium needs to be NHL ready and that takes time to develop time which should start now). You have to remember it takes an average of 2 to 4 years for young players to develop and become what they will become at an NHL level. I know rebuilds are gut reactions from us the fans because we want a microwave quick fix but the reality is teams like Buffalo, Anaheim, and San Jose have quite a bit more Top 6 talent than we do (currently and in the AHL–really up and down the roster and not just 3rd/4th liners top end, elite, skill talent). There are guys on those rosters such as Mason McTavish, Jiri Kulich, and Will Smith that are top line PP1 type guys (I've not even going to mention Celebrini and Bedard) players that we have tried to TRADE for but those are guys that usually fall into the Top 5 of a draft (and we have not picked that high) and there are reasons why those types of players hardly ever even make it to free agency or those top picks are traded away. Much like quarterbacks in the NFL if you get a shot at one of those elite multi-tooled forwards you take them and figure the rest out later. Yes, that has not translated to wins for those respective teams but this was a very big gamble by Trotz to construct the roster his way and it just hasn't paid off. I have no doubts that the veterans on this team can play but this is a team that needs more top line forward talent–some defense and an identity. Preds hockey has always been (at least for my money) about defense and goal tending…with the transition to Trotz as GM the defense with the exception of Josi of course we can't have that box checked. The future is now I think for Nashville and I think the dreaded "rebuild" word needs to be the direction.
I’ve never been in the “Fire Bruno” camp, but it’s starting to look like he might be the scapegoat. I still want to give him until next season. I’d be happy to take Hagens or Misa at the end of the season though.
It looks to me like they play like individuals not a team.
All talent is absolutely not made equal in the NHL. That is one of the silliest takes that I’ve heard. This roster construction is faulty. That’s all there is to it.
Let's have some fun tonight, eh?
A big whiff on meeting expectations this year. For 2025, hopefully we land a top 3 pick, we need new blood at head coach, I love Bruno, but he lost the team (IMO). Sell what you can and let the young guys come up to prove themselves. Perhaps we can figure out how to play as a team in 2025.
We don’t need momentum we need a top 3 draft spot. Time to tank!
I think they still played better than the MN Wild!!! Hartman For Sale bargain basement price $12 million!
This season, to me, is very reminiscent of the season that New Jersey had last year, wherein they defied expectations in the opposite direction. It feels like seemingly everything is broken without anyone knowing why. Yes, New Jersey had some major injury trouble with Hamilton, but it feels as if we have gone through similar but different struggles, being inconsistent defense primarily. To me, it makes sense to cut and trim some while adding in pieces from Milwaukee (I'd personally love to see Kemell get a roster spot). Take the high draft pick and use the picks to get some young talent and start carving a path for the future. Not all hope is lost, but they need to start looking to what transferable knowledge and skills we can get out of what is left of the season and take it into next
