Great trade!
My only concern about the conditional 1st … if the Rangers do finish bottom 13 this season, then whose pick will the Pens get in 2026? And while I get that it is a deeper draft, what if that pick winds up being around 25 or later in the first round? There is a chance both Vancouver and NYR will be really good next season.
You're absolutely correct, Pens did well! A 1st, Heinen who is better than O'Connor, a prospect who has loads upside and only 18 so give him 3-4 years, and a tough defenseman who was playing in a crazy drama filled locker room and now will play better. Thank you Dubas! Now, trade Grsylick, Rust or Raxs, and Beilivie!
Guys I have to say, I think this is an A plus trade for Kyle Dubas and the Penguins. The fact that you were able to convince the Canucks to give you a first round pick, whether it be this year or next year, is huge.
I would've hoped for at least a second, a first is massive. They got a first, a prospect, and two NHL roster players who I think will be decent. You get a defenseman in Vincent Desharnais, who I really liked when he played for the Edmonton Oilers last season. He's a right handed d-man, which is a plus and he adds a little bit of size to the Pens blue line at 6'6 and Danton Heinen is a decent bottom 6 forward who is probably good on average for 8-12 goals, although he is streaky and can put up outbursts as we saw here in Pittsburgh 3 years ago when he contributed 18 goals. He knows this organization from just playing here two seasons ago, so he will probably fit right back in.
I love this trade overall, sad to see the Dragon go, but he fetched a pretty nice return I would say.
Was watching The Hockey Guy talk about the Miller trade and was like, man, why can't the penguins get that specific 1st round pick, we going to end up with a 25 to 32 place pick instead. Then this was released, and I was like 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉partay. Love this trade, allowing our prospects to develop further instead of rushing them and two 1st-round picks this or next year. We can potentially flip heinan and desharnais by trade deadline next year
2nd and a prospect was the trade board consensus. Nifty work by Dubas to get a first and a couple more roster players to potentially flip, but I’ll really miss DOC and the dragon, best of luck in Vancouver! I’ll be watching
We have a lot of picks in the next few drafts. What do we do with all of them pick players or use them for trade capital?
Thanks for the update, let’s go pens 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
Pens won't make anything out of the draft pick; terrible draft history.
Thanks guys! LGP🎉
It’s a sad day
I always wanted Petterson to load the protein and pump some iron. Got pushed around a little too much.
Man I like this trade.
But hate to see MP28 go and DOC.
But with the direction of the team a move had to be made.
Dubas with a solid move.
Also the cap space we are gonna have
I really like this trade. Pettersson was as good as gone so getting a first round pick for him is huge, and truthfully I was burnt out on DOC and his lack of finishing, it was just getting frustrating to watch. Heinen will replace him just fine.
Good work van brass now go woo hoo 🤠🍻🚬😸
At least Danton can score, YAAAAAYYYY!!!!!
I really like the trade. I'm hoping that Desharnais can provide a physical presence in front of the Pens net, so that opponent forwards don't have free access to the net area.
Basically the Rangers 1st round pick for Marcus Pettersson. The salaries are a wash. MP is $4.025,175AAV. Desharnais is $2AAV and Heinen is $2.25AAV. Both have 1 year deals and Desharnais can be traded next deadline as he is a big right shot defense man. No Nils Hoglander, Keifer Sherwood, Dakota Joshua, Elias Pettersson dman, or any other top prospect. No talk on Hoglander by anyone is odd.
3 words.
Let Dubas Cook.
Really hate seeing Dragon and Doc go but tbh this was absolutely necessary.
Magic 🫘 beans.
As a Canucks fan I think we overpaid a bit, but at least it signals that management still thinks that we can win now.
I don't think Ned has much value on the market unless he goes really hot really soon.
I'm getting tired of seeing Mike Sullivan chewing gum on the bench.
Glad DOC is gone…all he does is dump the puck in and thinks he can beat the defender to the puck and he never does. Good riddance.
