How Would Luke Evangelista’s Return Affect the Nashville Predators?

Luke Evangelista has been out of the lineup for the Nashville Predators since being injured January 7 in a game against the Winnipeg Jets, but yesterday he returned to practice with the team. On today’s episode we discuss what Evangelista’s potential return could mean for the Nashville Predators. Tommy Novak and Fedor Svechkov have built chemistry in recent games, and we’ll explain why it is important to give Evangelista time on that line once he returns. We discuss the reasons behind the NHL “sophomore slump” and specifically why Evangelista’s numbers have taken a hit this season. Finally we hear from Andrew Brunette on his trust in Juuse Saros, the biggest issue with a porous defense right now, and what he credits for Nashville’s new found ability to find the back of the net.

  1. Great job ladies—Ann skillful use of the words "poop sandwich" lol.

I think Luke's return will definitely impact the club in a positive way. I still have high hopes for him and we definitely miss his all around game capabilities. Fedor I'm noticed has definitely been aggressive on offense and it's intriguing what will happen with Luke being on that line in a playmaker type of role or as a finisher–his two play is needed. The story hasn't been written on him quite yet and we can certainly use the playmaking.

Good points on Juice–look it's not all him. If we play defense like we did the last 3 games we aren't going to win many games. I know Vancouver and Buffalo aren't the threats of a Vegas or Dallas but still dangerous when you don't defend well. A modern NHL goal tender (even an elite one such as Juice) does not play all the games—he's stretched. Annunen's playing well—he's done great and credit to him for playing so well after getting traded.

As far as Spencer Stasney—that's a rough decision—my real thoughts are is that whomever we sign, trade or acquire we need someone that will block shots and defend and when you move Brady Skjei around I think you are really breaking up the defensive responsibilities on a club that legit needs help on the blue line (center play not withstanding). I think Brady has pressed himself and that's impacted the defense.

This club needs another stay at home defenseman (or forward) that will get grimy–they can do a LITTLE on offense (doesn't necessarily have to be his game) but we need a sandpaper type of guy (especially with Roman being a major part of the offense) that will set the tone (Zach L'Heureux COULD be that guy–the problem is we need that NOW), If Chicago really wants to rid themselves of Seth Jones….might a reunion be a possibility? They might need to eat a little contract and throw in an asset (I love Seth still have his jersey but come on lol).

Therein lies the problem with the mix of veterans and youth, we've got young guys on the roster that COULD fill the roles we need but they are not there yet therefore why we are seeing this crazy season. People do use age as an excuse and yes there are drawbacks to an "old" team but these guys can still play–it's just the young dudes that need to go through the growing pains stage to becoming full time NHL starters and contributers–just in practice Steven Stamkos and Marchy should NOT be carrying this club. It's like a crazy teeter toter–this team stressed and struggled to score in the beginning and now the defense is becoming a liability and that has impacted Juice.

  2. I think it is clear as daylight that D is the major problem. The girls are right. Why run Juuse into the ground, let Annunen get some games, avoid 65+ games on one goalie. Toronto IMO destroyed Freddie that way back in the day at a time when Leafs sucked. Modern goaltending is extremely hard on all ligaments and your knees, tbh I seriously believe Jets run Conor too hard also.
    Smth will eventually break.
As a Pred, our pride and joy have always been the D, the performance there atm is nothing short of embarrassing.

  3. Great job Ladies I think Luke's return will definitely impact the club in a positive way. I still have high hopes for him and we definitely miss his all-around game capabilities. Go Preds love the show!! 💙💙💛💛
