  1. Game one of the Canucks death spiral. Sad day in Canuck land. We just lost the only player that can handle McBeatourass Allovertheice. Obviously JR is not done, by a long shot. He has some more moves up his sleeves so this is just a start. The playoffs now hinge on a miracle trade, which is very unlikely. At least we get to watch Quinn for the next couple of years. With even less forward scoring depth now this team is in big trouble. Those two prospects coming won't even kick in until Quinn signs else where as UFA.

  2. It could prove hard for the Canucks to recover from this, at least in their present incarnation. People are gonna blame Miller’s abrasive, gritty ways or neurotic Pettersson’s fits and starts; but really it’s just a set of causes and conditions between the two on the same team. Neither one of them can be blamed wholly.

The problem with the Canucks, in my opinion goes deeper. They have the best coach in the league, also imo, but there is something artificial about what my favourite team has become. I like a team with a positive narrative and great roots behind the organization. The Canucks have that in spurts, but overall there is a veneer of unreality about the organization. ā€œCanucksā€ is an ironic name for a team who has among the least Canadian players in the league. We need to get over our long trend of relying on Swede players, and yes I know this has a lot to do with our farm options in junior leagues and so on. Also, our fan base is fairly top-heavy with new fans, new immigrants in Vancouver. That’s great and I mostly love it, but many of them are really new to hockey and don’t know the legacy and dynamics of the sport and the League. Yes, yes, we also have a load of hardcore, dedicated fans who have been here for years and years and I do love the new fans too!

For me, the biggest factor is the somewhat nefarious and corrupt ownership of the team. We need more positive ownership. Positive seeds behind a team are crucial.

If you combine all these factors with our glaring media in this town, it seems to create this veneer of superficiality and bad seeds to our team. There’s something inauthentic about the Vancouver Canucks.

Just my opinion. I’ll run away. But I meant it. šŸ¤“šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

  3. Pettersson spit the dummy out previously as he wanted to be paid as a top NHL player. Problem is he has shown so far he has very little heart or desire to actually be one.
Where is he when we need him most? He is more often than not invisible on the ice. We are stuck with this charlatan. How long now has he been stealing money from the team?
If we manage to move him for a bag of pucks we should consider that a successful trade.
At least Miller gave us regular effort and production. I actually applaud him for calling out Pettersson.
    He wants to win.
We cannot achieve that whilst there are too many on this team willing to offer excuses for
Pettersson's lack of effort and production.

  4. Pettersson’s contract with go down as the worst signing, he plays soft , no speed needs to wear different colour jersey so we know when he’s on the ice if the Canucks happen to make the playoffs, he will get crushed

  5. I don’t quite understand this Petterson unable to perform with Miller being around analogy. We all have co workers or managers we can’t stand but we still have to do our job or get fired for way less than 11.6 million. If Miller really affected Petey that much I think his mental game might be the bigger problem .

  6. Im officially no longer a fan of the canucks what a bunch of idiots trading Miller to keep petey happy? The guy hasnt lived up to his contract at all at least miller scores goals and made good plays so ridiculous the front office is obviously smoking crack

  7. A very contradictory sales, but the situationnhad to be solved, onr way or the other.
    w

Just wonder who would sign Petterson with 12, 6 M prive tag ever??

  8. I'm stoked…all management needs to do now is trade Petey for a 3rd liner and ahl player…..we are 2 depth players away from being a playoff contender…we just need to trade our last 2 core forwards in Petey and Boeser.

  9. chytil has more goals than miller this year! It is likely chytil will have more goals than miller next 3 years!

  10. FINALLY!! JT is an a..hole. The only real talent he has is being able to fit that massive ego of his into that tiny bucket. Nucks should've gotten rid of him long ago, but I'm glad they finally did it.

  11. Thanks media. Including this fkn page on being complicit in Miller being traded
I have one word for you šŸ–•

  12. Couldn't keep Horvat, Miller, Zadorov, Tanev….Boeser will be gone and Hughes won't be too far behind. Another rebuild after one decent playoff run. Sigh

  13. Not a good time for Van sports, Lions flopped and traded the better QB, Canucks traded two most impactful players from last year's playoffs and the Whitecaps are for sale..

  14. Well the pressure is one now for both
If Miller manage to get Rangers back to playoff spot it's a win / win.
And let's be frank also Ranger locker room is a mess
But also Pettersson has no excuse anymore he needs to lead Canucks now

  15. So much for the Canucks even close to being considered a threat. The GM just screwed them for years to come.

  16. I am just glad that the drama will end. I will miss Miller, but I imagine Petey will play better without the drama in the room, That frees up a lot of money as well. Go Canucks Go!

  17. time and time again, for not his style of play, petterson is just not a big game playoff producer, for management wish full thinking does not win cups.

  18. Brannstrom passed through waivers a couple of weeks ago. Mancinni as RD 6ft 4 will be given a good chance as most teams are short of RD

  19. Lots of incredibly dumb comments in this thread. Do all Trump supporters end up in one thread?
You can't tell talent. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON HOCKEY. LUCIC LOVERS.
    All clowns you are.

  20. Huge error to trade miller instead of Petey. Petey will never be a franchise player and his contract is ridiculous.

Other than the 1st round draft pick, they are getting a bag of pucks.

This deal does nothing to plug the Dman holes.

  21. Both sides in Boeser might, HAVE, been fine. But now, after acquiring Marcus Pettersson, and "solving " the locker room drama. The full glare of a Kanadian market is on him.

The cap is going up. Forty goal wingers dont grow on trees. Pay him, pay that man his money.
