Becoming Wild: Declan Chisholm

Just outside of Toronto in the lakeside town of Bowmanville, Ontario, Declan Chisholm and his girlfriend–now fiancée–had dreams of living life to the fullest in the big city. Fast forward nearly a decade later and that dream is now a reality.

In this episode of Becoming Wild, presented by Toyota, explore summer in southern Ontario with the future newlyweds, both where they live and where they grew up. Plus, meet the people and see the process of the young NHL defenseman’s summer training routine…and how it is paying off in his first full season with the Minnesota Wild.

  1. This guy just keeps getting better!! Great to see him playing with Spurg where he will learn from the best. Great pickup by Billy G!!

  2. Forgive me, but someone has to say it. Let it be me, a person who lives in Russia and, if there are problems with NHL broadcasting in Russia, watches all Minnesota matches. So far, I associate number 47 with a disgusting defensive game, absolutely obvious and easy-to-read shots from the blue line, in 99% of the total number of such shots the puck is blocked and the savages have to try to get hold of the puck again. This is extremely disruptive to your team's game. That's how Matt Damba played. Declan! add to your actions what I liked about this team – unexpected and accurate passes (to your partners, not your opponents), reliable defensive actions, and a crazy, wild attack. In Minnesota, there is someone to play on offense, and it's not 47. So far, Declan pulls the puck out of his goal well after the siren and plays poorly on defense.
