The Penguins’ longest road trip of the season comes to an end tonight as the franchise makes its first-ever appearance in Utah. Patrick and Hunter get you ready for the team’s first game in Salt Lake City where they’ll face the Utah Hockey Club for the second time this season. They talk about what the Penguins have to do to get back into the win column as well as go over how with stable ownership and some talented young stars, Utah is a team on the rise. Then, they discuss how the trade deadline and offseason are shaping up to really work out in the Penguins’ favor. The Penguins will have plenty of cap space, trade chips, and most importantly, options over the next few months to overhaul their roster. Finally, it’s Wednesday and that means it’s Warrior Helmet Wednesday so Patrick and Hunter still hand out an MVP of the week despite a disappointing week in Penguins Land.

Pens might as well sign Phil the thrill
What kinds of players that are on NHL rosters do you think the Penguins could look to potentially acquire in trades? I know they are looking for young NHL players and high end prospects, who do you think they could try to target?
Could you see Mitch Marner potentially coming here given the fact Dubas was apart of the management team who drafted him in Toronto?
After that performance against the sharks 🦈 I’m going to create a drinking game to bring some life and excitement to proceedings 😂
Let’s go pens 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
I just want Sid to get 1 or 2 points, don't want to win. Top 5 pick lets go
Hunter, you mentioned about Gavin McKenna and the Penguins potentially choosing to go for him next year, after looking up his stats and watching some of his highlights, I wouldn't be disappointed if they did that.
He is ripping it up in the WHL right now. This kid had 97 points in just 61 game last year and he has already 79 points through 39 games this year and is projected to finish at 119 points in 59 games.
Random thoughts:
— Any chance the strange callups is party the front office wanting to tank at this point? (Players and coaches don't tank, but front offices do. Is this part of Dubas' "plan"?)
— This organization has got to move on from this mindset that the 4th line needs to be three puck eaters. I would say this is all Sullivan, but then I'm reminded that Dubas set up the roster that way too in Toronto. So I think it is an organization flaw from top-to-bottom.
Petterson, rust and rackell are ones will give a lot return
My warrior helmet Wednesday goes to you guys! You guys are very efficient and make it somewhat tolerable to watch this dumpster fire with your facts and valuable information. So thanks for the hard work Hunter and Pat. I do just want Sid to get that ppg record this year too and want a top 8 pick hopefully in the draft.
You guys took the words out of my mouth with hoping they'll make a splash move or 2 in the offseason with all the extra space and deadline moves. I sincerely hope all hits right, because as bad as things are right now, perhaps this retool on the fly can work, as they now have a decent prospect system, younger players and maybe added start power with a Marner or Rantinen. Random question: Do you think Malkin will come back to the Pens after next year or is he done after then?
I'm getting tired of seeing Mike Sullivan chewing gum on the bench.
I'm a Pgh native and Pens fan, but I've learned to enjoy rooting for other teams in the NHL If I were a betting man, I'd take Utah -2.5 in tonights game.
With hockey pundits talking about how teams will be making big moves before the Four Nations Tournament, I'd love to see the Pens involved in that. Karlsson's said that he was open for a trade if the Pens didn't want to keep him.
They need to move Graves, even if they have to eat a sh*t sandwich to do it, just so that they have an NHL roster spot for their better prospects to come up. The same goes for Jarry…find a strong defensive team for him to regain his confidence.
Trade them for mid level picks and trust your scouting, or trade them for players that were early picks, but have struggled so much that the team has given up on them, like Tomasino.
Teams that are in the "win now" mindset will make moves for veteran performers, with a strong playoff history.
Good night for the penguins organization. Pens with ot win and wilkes absolutely obliterated the hershey bears. Penguins played better tonight but still some horrible turnovers by letang and karlsson. I agree on kouvinen. They need to bring him up. 4 goals tonight. Ponomarev with a hat trick and murashov with a shutout. Beating hershey 9-0 is making a statement. Hershey has been the benchmark in the ahl the last few seasons
The Guentzel trade is looking good. The Pens drafted Harrison Brunicke in the 2nd round. Bunting leads the Pens with 9 PPG. Pens power play is 6th in the league at 26%. Last year the Pens had a 30th PP at 15.3%. Koivunen leads all AHL rookies in scoring with 35 points in 37 games. By comparison Matthew Savoie is 3rd in rookie scoring with 31 points in 39 games. Rakell at $5AAV has scored 23 goals and replaced Jake as Sid's left wing. Guentzel at $9AAV has 25 goals.
Can I suggest WBS Penguins highlights vs the Hershey Bears. 1/29/25.
Koivunen has 4 goals. Ponomarov has a hat trick. Murashov has a shut out.
