Forget about the Pettersson trade , Adams should be fired for not claiming Brandon Saad today! This team is screaming for veteran leaders and he still decides not to claim him.Yes he is now UFA but I doubt Adams can lure him here!
Im not a fan of the pending Pettersson trade because unless you get a D man coming to Buffalo with Pettersson you are opening a HUGE HOLE on D if you trade Power or Byram. Power has needed a veteran stay at home D partner for a few yrs now( a new D coach would help too) , hopefully the new EXPERIENCED GM can find him one! Gavrikov Lindgren or Pionk are all UFA this summer and would fill the spot nicely.
Secondly if the Sabres were going to spend 11plus million on a forward Id rather the new EXPERIENCED GM go after UFAs Marner or Rantanen .

I am so tired of hearing the Elias Pettersson or JT MIller trade. If Pegula had s pair he would just fired Adams and get a real GM who knows what he is doing!
JJ Peterka has 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 2025. Petterson has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points in 2025. Peterka in 2025 is better than Pettersen. Cozens has 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points, 5 less than Petterson. Sabres are in the top 15 teams in total scoring, they need defense.. they dont need Petterson and he has personality issues feuds with his teamates i say pass unless they want Lafferty, Kozak and Clifton… But even then the personality issues might be too much to throw the tesm chemistry off. I say draft, look to rochester, or wait for the next thing.
we need more than the pettersson trade
This season is over, making a trade now is pointless, wait till the off-season, see how the players finish out the season.
It still might be best just to wait it out… bunch of russian prospects in the AHL doing well, team gets another year older, another off-season to bulk up, Kulich is breaking out as a possible 1st line center letting Tage move to wing would be huge.
Patience might be the right call.
a player like pettersson rarely comes available. he will be moved imo by or before the march 7 deadline. vancouver and buffalo are my 1-2 favourite teams so it would be a win-win for me if he went to buffalo.
