Scary Knee on Knee Sends Connor Zary to Locker Room



Left knee against left knee injures Connor Zary and he exits the game and does not return.

  1. Have you seen the two kneeing penalties in the WJC? I was watching the Finland game myself, and the commentators were on the fence whether the opposition player was actually hurt or not. So I started wondering:

    If you get a big hit in the knee, how different is the typical injury (that forces the player to not play in that game anymore) compared to momentary shock (such as in the Canada game where there was also a kneeing penalty, and the receiver ended up assisting the game-winning goal)? Is it about the contact point, about the extension or about speed of the hit? If there is no overextension, what other injury it could be?

    In both of these hits the knee wasn't the first to hit, but their knees still collided. Both cases received a major penalty, and both were controversial. I believe it was the quarter finals.
