Matt and guest co-host Jeff Paterson discuss new lows for the Canucks after a 6-2 thumping in Edmonton and Corey Perry abusing captain Quinn Hughes. They talk about whether Vancouver can ever get past Connor McDavid’s Oilers; nobody having any fun; Brock Boeser encouraging the room to be “good teammates;” Vincent Desharnais’ struggles against his old team; and a “must-win” game Saturday against Washington. The guys also discuss the bigger problems with Elias Pettersson’s lack of output, a soft trade market for J.T. Miller, and whether there’s world where they become sellers at the trade deadline.
Dan Rosen of NHL.com stops by to discuss Miller suitors in his neck of the woods (NYR, NJ) and elsewhere (CAR). Dan discusses why those teams want Miller, whether the Islanders would be interested in re-uniting Pettersson with old friend Bo Horvat; and Alex Ovechkin’s chase of Wayne Gretzky’s goal record as the Russian winger rolls into Vancouver.
Rob Williams of the Daily Hive recaps the week on social media between Oilers fans and the Canucks. The big mad response to Conor Garland holding Connor McDavid, and the, uhh, victimhood of McDavid. Rob says the city is sick of this core and that a big trade to salvage the season is getting less and less likely.

I'm not watching boring hockey until the Canucks do something to shake up this stale and lost hockey team
Whatās wrong with the media in this town??
When things go well (mostly due to luck) Rickey gets ALL the credit right now Media shields coach when tm is sinking š¤š¤
A province that re elected the ndp deserves this team
Watch the first shift of the game! They just sat there with the puck on Pius Suters stick
Guaranteed Hughes will ask to leave this team at years end
Don't rag on Demko guys….cmon
Jeff, I think your Canuckās coverage is first-class, but the first goal and Hronekās play is a direct result of Tocchetās poorly constructed defensive system. His first pivot on the play is to the middle of the ice. Why? Because Tocchet wants his defenders to protect the guts/middle of the ice first. He then has to pivot back to the outside and heās caught behind the play! And the breakout pass beat three Canuck forwards in the offensive zone on a weak forecheck because theyāre told not to ādive-inā and commit to plays! His system is disabling this team – this is not about effort or the leaders not stepping up or the core group not being good enough. Itās about the Xs and Os being so bad that the players have lost all of their confidence!! media and more importantly Canuck management donāt understand that the problem is their style of play – NOT the players!! They have lowest āshots forāin the league, your two star centres are in scoring slumps, wingers in scoring slumps – now both high-end goalies are struggling and the team canāt hold on to leads and are losing consistently – itās the system!!
The Canucks team is not showing fire and respond. The media is also an issue
Petey just standing around when Hughes is getting mould by Perry is so gutless on the part of petey š”
Just bought a Mark Freidman jersey in the hopes it wouldn't sell out before I arrived.
We all know itās gonna happen. JT miller to Vegas
Canucks firesale at the deadline!
What if politics is messing with the room like its messing with everything else in society currently. Toc / Miller for sure maga dudes. Petey no way. Hughes who knows..
Toch the problem not the solution. All he doesis complain about his team. His strategy is to play defense all 60 minutes.
Line pride is poor. Plus/minus importance. Line scoring
Oilers knew Desharnais weaknesses and jumped at the opportunity
1:38:17 I agree Matt the team going streaking sure would be a statement
Other teams are taking liberties with Canuck defense. They taking more chances knowing they cant be burned with a good pass.
I guess if the season can't be salvaged, then the urgency to make these big moves is lessened
Did we make it into the second round of the playoffs because of EP40? You don't win Cups without hard charging power forwards. This Team's fixation on Swedish players is our undoing. Danny and Hank were outstanding, but EP40 isn't a hard, tough player. For nearly twelve million we could get a great defenceman and decent forward. I don't see any leadership from EP40.
Have a Team Meeting with players and management, and sort this out.
Tochet looks totally depressed be hind the bench. Not a good look for a coach in this league. I can see him being canned when Mike Sullivan leaves the Penguins after they fail to make a playoff spot. There are just too many problems on this team now. From coach of the year to what is happening now.
If the Canucks traded Petey to the NYI for Brock Nelson. What else should Vancouver get in such a deal?
I think the players like Tocchet as a person and leader, I just think it's not very fun playing his type of hockey.
Trade Miller now and see how Petey does for the rest of the year. Trade Petey then.
the players rumoured to be on the block and buffalo was one of the teams kicking tires figured it's a good time to tank their game.
