As a cbj fan management was his problem, jj for him, never given the chance to show off his scoring. Him and panarin would have been deadly. As for VGK he's growing ever year he's been in the league and I don't see him going back to his ANA , CBJ days, I see him as the face of the franchise after flower retires.

I feel like Vegas fans are going to be veeeeery disappointed with W.K this season. Absolute anomaly of a season. 40 goal scorers do not get overlooked by every team and scout whose ever been in contact with him. He literally shot about four times better than he ever had. 20 goals MAX this season, but I’ll sayyyyyy 16… Get your money while you can Wild Bill!!!!
I get that his shooting percentage this season isn't sustainable and that he most likely will be a 20-25 goalscorer a year going forward, but I think Karlsson should've got a much better contract. He's a really good two-way center. I would've been totally fine with giving him that money for 5-6 years

I think Vegas handled his contract situation perfectly. He will still be an RFA so they still have time. The 5.25m is a good way to reward him for a good year but it's also good that if he's not actually a 40 goal scorer then they can renegotiate next year. I give this signing a 10/10 for both sides

This is a prove it kind of deal.
I like this deal for both sides. Low risk for Vegas and for W. Karlsson if he can match or even approach last season's totals he'll command even more money in a longer term deal next time than he would have this time.
I mean from the player's perspective. You can slice and dice Karlsson all you want and talk about the past but the fact is that players gets PAID a ton if they score goals and points, one season or not.
You've had players getting 1 30 goal season in their entire career being rewarded with 5 million mutliyear deals all the time. Karlsson had 43 and was 6th in selke voting and won the lady Byng.
There has never been a player post lockout that has been handed such a pathetic contract for what he accomplished in a season. This isn't about what fans think a player should be paid(cause then no team would have a payroll above 50 million) but what a player actually should be paid compared to his peers. And anything below 7 million for what he did falls short of anything given to other players.
Now to get the other Karlsson on the team

Smart Contract. Good for Both Parties. The Knights don't commit to a bad contract and Karlsson has the chance to earn a Bigger paycheck the following year. It may cost the knights more in the long run, but it'll be money well spent if it pans out

No one saw Karlsson scoring 40 goals. I don’t know that he’ll ever hit 40 again, but you never know. Brian Bradley didn’t strike me as an offensive powerhouse when Tampa Bay drafted him and he played repeated his performance. This contract is good for both parties. He gets a raise, Vegas gets some flexibility in case Karlsson was a fluke and he gets to prove he’s the real deal. I hope he has 40 again, heck I’d love to see him hit 50! I think he’s gonna setting in around the 25 goal 55-60 point range.
Vegas should have signed him long term. It will cost them a lot more next year. Karlsson is the real deal.
