Ottawa needs Pettersson we deserve him
If they can get him for anything other than Timmy – the answer is – YES! – had to add more, this is one of the best players available in the market, you do this trade all day. Norris + Pinto? Deal. Norris + Sanderson? I do that deal. Norris + Grieg? Deal. The core is barely coming together and we are also benefactors of a weak conference right now – you need to go for this if it’s an option, petersson is a superstar. Teams that win have Elite Centers. Josh Norris is not an elite Center. I’d even do Brady straight for pettersson. Trading a LW for a Bonified #1 C, that’s a good deal.

What’s wrong with playing regular season games in Quebec City? I’m genuinely curious why people seem to hate this idea so much.
I say we schedule all Toronto home games in Quebec City so sens fans sell their tickets at a premium to fans that’ll at least cheer against the visiting team.

I would personally hate getting Pettersson I 100% would rather trade for someone like JJ Peterka someone who guaranteed has chemistry with Timmy and is actually a winger.
Give up something like JBD and picks + prospects I see it being a way better fit.
Brandon respectfully you are out to lunch on petey. He doesn't fit the sens style and at 11.6 mil I'm sure his points to contract value is one of the worst league wide. You would screw over your organization by taking the whole contract on and comparing it to norris isn't really legit because norris is overpaid as well. Perron is signed for 2 years u aren't getting of that contract.

As a Habs fan primarily but also a Sens fan, it was quite odd to have a split jersey half Sens half Nordiques. Hockey jerseys should never be half half. No one would want the mascot of their respective team to wear that. Weird choice!
Ross nailed it – It would be exciting to Pettersson but we need a RW Forward to can score with our existing Centres. In fact, I would consider trading Norris for a 30+ goal score winger and move Pinto to 2C (Ridley to 3 C).
Split jerseys should only be worn by a parent who has kids on 2 different teams

I'm with Ross, I don't like what we'd have to give up to get Pettersson and I don't like his contract either. This team has something good going, the move is making a few small adds and using FA to strengthen the team in the offseason.
I get what Ross is saying about not wanting to upset the locker room (mostly Brady since he’s best buds with Norris) and that Staois said he believed in these guys. But when a player like Pettersson’s becomes available that should be something worthy of changing plans. Like Pillzy said when he mentioned Vegas, you have to jump at these oppurtunites when they come around. Sens are doing well and are a good team, but getting Pettersson could make them a legit Cup contender in the near future.
Norris at his best is probably a 30/30/60 point guy who’s alright defensively. That’s a good player but not really worth 8M imo. Pettersson on the other hand can put up 40/60/100 points while being elite defensively. That’s a massive upgrade in terms of quality and easily worth the extra 3.5M in AAV.
Even now Norris is on pace for 30ish goals and 45ish points. If you can move him for a guy with legit star potential you do it 10/10 times.
Even if you don’t like the idea of having Pettersson/Stützle being a “2C” then you can move EP40 to the wing and have Pinto as the 2C going forward and Greig as 3C.
I doubt it happens and I have no idea what else would be part of that deal, but it’s an easy decision imo.

Knee jerk reaction is that Pettersson wouldn't be a good fit on the team or in the room. I literally have no facts to back any of that up but just seems like one of those players that would do well on other teams but would be a bust on ours.
Sens are too thin on prospects to make this deal. If we didn't trade for DeBrincat or Chychrun and had kept those top 10 picks then maybe but not now.
I'd like Elias Petterrsson going to an east coast Canadian team so yeah Sens is kind of a good fit for a Canucks fan.
Ullmark's job is to play for the Senators. That's why he is paid for. If he wants high pressure games, they are all there till the end of the season. He must take those days to practice and rest. His back injury is almost turning to a joke so come on and do the job you were hired for. No 4 nations tournament, the main goal for now is to make the playoffs.

Ottawa should stay away from Elias Pettersson, contract is too expensive especially with no move clause just about to kick in. Plus having to give away Norris and probably Zub plus a draft pick is a terrible trade. Then we get Pettersson and it doesnt work and we have a terrible contract to deal with long term. Ottawa doesn't need this Dorion type of trade.

I'm with Pillzy concerning Petterson. It's almost once in a lifetime. Sure that such a trade could disturb the atmosphere in the room for a while but what do you prefer? A good atmosphere on the golf course or a better chance to make the playoffs?
I think there's other upgrades that could be made for cheap that would have a bigger impact. Also we already have Timmy for the 1C I'd like Pettersson but with that deal and potential other off ice and playoff issues not sure I'd want to commit that much term and $$$ to acquire Pettersson not to mention the cost to acquire him

If you can get Pettersson for Norris as a one for one then it's a no brainer, you do it. Pettersson is a better player, no question.
The concern for me is two-fold: first what you need to add. The sens re not deep on prospects and picks and you sort of want to have a decent supply of those as you enter your competitive window. And second is the salary hierarchy. The top salary on a team seves as a bit of an anchor in negotiations. If someone wants to make more than 8M on Ottawa they have to explain why they deserve more than 1C Timmy, Captain Brady, and Vezina winning Ullmark. If you reset the ceiling with Pettersson you might inadvertently handcuff yourself in future negotiations (Pinto and Yakemchuk would be the two right now that I would expect could result in big dollars down the line).
That was the worst thing to ever happen to the sens we FINALLY! got our goalie I.e hasek we were destined to win the Stanley and He goes and gets hurt making Murray the g.m really plummeted us down into the basement being the coach he won over 50 games both years but when they made him the g.m we really went down fast I.e the muckler curse hit us bad worst g.m in sens history

I'd love to see Pettersson in Ottawa. They're selling low and I don't see why it couldn't be a one for one hockey trade. I'm also 100% good if they keep Norris. Josh is clearly back this season
All I know is with the Going up $9 million. I got three tickets to the leafs game 600 bucks for the 300 section prices are becoming outrageous. Ridiculous and prices are going to go up even more with the $9 million Increase I can’t go forward to see them anymore so I don’t give two craps if they end up leaving the city, who cares if you can’t afford to see them
