Former Habs Chris Nilan and Rick Green say the goaltender is vindicating the confidence Martin St. Louis placed in him.
They also dicuss what GM Kent Hughes should do at the March 7 NHL trade deadline, with forwards Jake Evans, Joel Armia, Christian Dvorak and defenceman David Savard all eligible to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

Marty doesn’t do systems he does concepts 😂 remember what he said when he was first hired
Why isn’t Knuckles behind a bench somewhere? He knows what he’s talking about.
Montembeault proving, once again, that he is Montreal's #1 goalie. Hopefully he will start for Team Canada.
Everyone was calling for Montys head a couple of nights ago. Now the axel on the bandwagon is bending. Habs fans are crazy. It takes a player with a different DNA that want to play here and excel. The team is shaping up to be the Habs team of old grow together, play together and most importantly WIN together! The way we still have prospects and picks we will be feeding this club for years to come😅
That's a proper tandem.
Another great show. Thank you guys.
Nice conversation guys!
Monty!❤…But…. MSL 🤮
You all are great. Love listening to you!
Loved the show
I don't know what will happen to the team; the wheels may fall off still, but, man they are exciting to watch. They are in "the mix" because they have beaten teams who are ahead of them and better than them on paper. I can't wait to see what happens at the trade deadline… do they buy or sell. If they buy What does that do to the guys in Laval? Do they sell because they have fallen off, then what do they do with the guys in Laval? Love the suspense.
Right now, The Habs are playing ahead of the rebuild curve. Maybe they knock 1 year off of it. A playoff birth would make me a believer that they are ahead of schedule. If not, we are seeing the future much clearer.
Armia is one of the better players in the league when it comes to board battles. The guy almost always comes out with the puck on his stick. Really, the way things are going, the only player I'd like to see moved is Dvorak, because i think there would be a market for a guy like him who despite not putting up many points is good in the faceoff and because I think would be the mot easily replaced with what Montreal has in the system. Savard could go too if the price was high for veteran defensive defensemen like in the last couple years but in that case I think they would be wise to add a cheaper, similar bottom pairing guy if they're still on a run.
Newhook needs to go
Gotta trade Armia because his value is at his highest. Can’t keep them all.
This team has no quit. They may have some stinkers at times but not as many as early on in the season. How lucky to have 2 goalies complimenting each other. Every line is contributing and the team plays as a team. They have found their identity. Cheers
In the past this team played without specific roles given to players. If you look at the pk with Anderson being a major contributor this year vs being lost last year as an example. It seems that everyone has identified their role and sticking to the plan. If this team keeps on progressing within their system who knows how far it could take them this year.
Before people had even heard of dobes montey was coming up big for us… season opener vs leafs 48 saves + shut out (no hate to dobes ) montey still easily #1
Great show
Why is Arber not being used more. He needs the ice time. If they get to the playoffs they are going to need 3 pairs of defencemen. Plus you can’t use Matheson and Hutson on 5on5 situations because neither one is a true defenceman
Monty is a scary goalie you can't tell if he has come to turn in a great performance or fall on his face.
Silence critics with a .899 save % 😂
Hey knuckles, you're wrong about what you said at the 6:45 mark! I have been saying it from the very beginning of this season, and if you don't believe me, you can check any of my past comments on the SICK podcast. I knew the chemistry was going to develope this season. I knew this was going to manifest during this hockey season. Love it! GOHABSGO!!!!!!!
thank you
Knuckels they aren’t playing “man” they are playing hybrid defence. Teams that move the puck north south inside the blue line can overwhelm them, but it’s hard to do. Toronto pulled it off.
The more they play the hybrid the more the guys will become familiar with it.
Thank you guys for another good show!
You're right Stu. Sam should have been the first star.
Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky – Laine, Dach, Demidov – Anderson, Newhook, Gallagher – Heineman, Evans, Armia
Monty has come a long way over the years. Now he is a great goalie that gives his team a chance to win when he is in net.
Love Montembault's game!
Resign- Armia, Evans, Savard, Henieman and Dobes
Let go- Dvorak, Pezzetta and Struble
I think we have enough young guys coming up and we have alot of early round draft picks next year.
He just needs to be more consistent. Sure he had a great game yesterday, but I don’t want him to let in 6 goals tomorrow 😬
Regardless, love ya Monty! GOHABSGO!
Great show guys. Knuckles should use a thesaurus to find another word for shite. Don't upset the apple cart as they have four lines of good players; ride this out to see how far you can go and don't buy or sell. And sign Jake Evans for $3.5 for as many years as he wants and throw in season tickets to OSU football.
I love Armia and Evans too! I'd love to see them both signed to team friendly contracts. Savard too!

matheson"s got to go, gives the puck away too often and never really just move the puck looking to make an other play. how are the other players feel having to put the breaks on and salvage the play 10-15 times a game…….
