0:35 Kaapo Kakko is HIM

Since being traded to the Seattle Kraken Kaapo Kakko has been on fire. How bad are the New York Rangers regretting this trade and will Kakko keep this pace? KC and Darius Domingues break down all this and more on this episode of Hat Trick HQ.

  1. As a finn (and a Rags fans since '92) I'm just glad he got out of the hell that the Rangers are right now. Sure they've won something lately, but it's gone so badly downhill that I hope they retool in a big way in the summer. Also, why would they trade Lafreniere? Any of the older guys sure, but they won't trade Laff.

  2. Chytil, Cylle, and Kakko were the best line in the league. Then Lavi had to break them up in order to get Z involved in the game. We did everything but bench Z that includes charitable contributions to the Kraken organization.

  3. Kaapo Kakko wasn't just a first-round pick, he was the first player selected after Jack Hughes, who will be inducted into HHOF after his career is over.

Chris Drury should have been fired immediately after this trade was made. Then again, he should have never been hired to begin with.

  4. Kappo's comments make it obvious how badly he was mismanaged and constrained within the Rangers organization

  5. As a Capitals fan, we were happy to see Laviolette leave, because we felt that he was holding back our young players like McMichael and Protas from developing properly. Their success under Carbery shows that we were probably right. And now he's repeated that with Kaapo Kakko in New York.

  6. Still pissed Nill didnt make a move for Kakko. Hell he should have been offer sheeted 2 years ago for peanuts and a 3rd round pick

  7. He was given plenty of time on 1st line rw in NY and did nothing. He goes where there is no pressure and no reporters in his face and yeah now he can play. You have to be a different breed to be able to play in NY,TOR,MON,PHI and BOSTON. Not everyone with talent will excel in these markets. Borgen has been playing very well for the Rangers, so it's not what it is made out to be. We needed toughness and they are starting to be a pain to play against again. With 1 or 2 good moves, the Rangers can win a cup. 2 shutouts in his last 2 games, the kid is the best golie and they have adjusted to play tighter D. They have a lot of work to do but it can be done. I've been a Ranger fan for over 50 years, NEVER count them out!

  8. So what? Seattle doesn't have anyone else to play while the Rangers have multiple allstars. Seattle will put Kak at PP1 and play him a ton. 4 goals in 13 games. One of thoae was an empty netter. Anyway, that equals maybe 25 for the year if he stays on that pace but probably won't That's not blowing anybody away. Once Seattke gets a deeper lineup and a real coaching staff he Kak will play less. He was -2 against the Sabs the other night as well.

  9. The teams that got Jack Hughes, Bedard and Cellebrini instantly put these boys in the top 6, gave a lot of responsibility and started to patiently build the teams around them. Rangers put the new talent laying bricks and keep yapping at them and order them to develop to get better. The team knows nothing about motivation and psychology. They sometimes get lucky their players get motivated but recent events have shown that management style must change or heads must roll.

  10. Hockey fans are silly everyone outside NY called this guy a bust for the past 5 years and he goes to Seattle scores 16-17 points and he's Teamu Sellane all of the sudden , he should've never been in NY.

  11. Good for Kakko, but I never saw him as top 6 on the Rangers, he just didn't work on Rangers! So many of these annoying videos of how Rangers got fleeced. All talking parrots on Youtube picked up this rumor….He is a decent player – that's all.

  12. Home grow your talent? VGK hasn't, and it's worked for them so far. Of course, they didn't have to with the inaugural roster they had.
