Would the Bruins Trade Brad Marchand?
Could the Boston Bruins trade Brad Marchand this season? Would Colorado and Vegas be the front runners?
I look at what it would take, how it would happen, and if Brad Marchan would let it happen. The Boston Bruins have never been afraid to trade a big-name player like Brad Marchand.

What you think the odds are that the Bruins trade Marchand?
I think they need to move out every expiring contract. Washington style.
Gotta trust what Fluto is saying.
My feelings on Marchand, he's a big Bruin, can see him retiring there. If he wanted to move, then yes.
But he is 36, and is not the same player he was. I'd move him. Like Chara, he can sign a one day contract and retire as a Bruin.
Since becoming captain, the "rat" has disappeared, and it has affected his play.
The Bruins should dangle Marchand to assess interest. They should be looking for young, promising talent (like Seguin was) under contract for a few years who project as Top 6 players. Draft picks are a crap shoot, the Bruins track record isnt great
I'd rather trade Elias Lindholm than Brad Marchand. Open up cap space, bring young blood from the AHL (Merk, Lysel) and accept the fact that the Bruins are not a contender this season and won't go far into the playoffs (if they even get there). Cheers
If we can get a good return I would be fine with it.
Marchand bleeds Black & Gold.
If being traded is better for the team….
Marchand will be traded.
Go Marchy…Go Bruins.
IMHO, no sentiment, trade 🙂 Thank you very much Marchy, but… Bruins need retool a lot… Marchy could be back in the offseason, good business 🙂
Interesting… I thought exactly that when Colorada seemed to dump a player "out of nowhere".. maybe opening space for a different player.. like Marchand… the "try before you buy" might be at the 4 nations event with Marchand paired with MacKinnon.
No
I am not sure how to feel about this, Brad never called me when i got traded, so Idont think he cares whether he stays or goes. all they got for me was a bin of soggy towels.
Trades should always be to benefit your team first, then check the time line of and for success. so who is avialble and for what cost.wait for the end of season with those contracts and simply eat this season for what it is = %.500-.625 the trend is win 2 lose 3 etc. but I am just a bin of soggy towels 😄
iDK .. frankly, the Bs need more players like Marchand .. quick to the puck and creative on Offense. Please not more big and slow.
Don't want them to do anything with Sweeney calling the shots. Draft: Epic fail! FA: Epic fail! Do we want the trifecta?
Trade Brad, and there's nothing left worth watching!!!
He's not going anywhere. All info is hear say. Pure speculation
I wonder if, in the end, trading him—while bold and commendable—would make the front office look bad since their poor decisions led to a beloved player being traded. So it’s a move they’d be proud to do but still puts them in the hot seat by an heartbroken fan base
Please don’t trade him and if please trade him to Vegas or Utah – that is the only 2 other intressent team in NHL history
If Marchand goes it could be a rental and come back regardless if that is what he chooses to do. That's if they talked to him about it if he’s agreeing to the process then you make your decision from what Marchand wants
I don’t think there’s a possibility of trading March. It’s way easier to see him taking a cut and sticking around. He’s getting older, he knows it and so does everyone else. The guy’s made his money, he’s set for life and beyond and he loves the bruins more than maybe anyone ever.
He’s no bergie, he knows the franchise took a major chance on him and he worked harder than anyone to be who he is today. He’s the heart and soul of the team, he maintains the culture, the squad would be worse off without him than if they traded him for a stallion.
I guess anything is possible but I’d love to see him retire as a Bruin but at the end of the day if the price is right and it’s a no brainer
Absolutely . U trade Marchand for picks and prospects , then resign him in the off-season. You improve the team and you get your guy back. No shame in going for a cup and then returning back to Boston
The Knights let Marchessault walk because they had Dorofeyev for so Cheap. They’re not giving him up…. Not even for Marchand.
If Wayne Gretzky can be traded anyone can.
If they can get a first and prospect for Marchand and don’t take it, Sweeney should immediately be fired. Should also trade anyone else they can get high picks for other than Pasta, McAvoy, Lohrei and Sway.
I guess it could happen, but who really wants Brad that badly? No offense Mr. Marchand, but if you do leave, you’re going to some gate starved losers like the Ducks, or Utah. Does Mr. Marchand have that large of an amount of love for cash? As noted above, I guess it could happen, but not with Brad going anywhere with any promise. Humans can be greedy, though. 🤷♂️
id hate to see marchy in another colour, but honestly if they could get like a second rounder or something, go for it. he doesnt look like he has too many years left anyway and his skills have depreciated rather rapidly lately so i dont see him as having a ton of value anymore.
On this side, the BRUINS have a history that is not enviable. How many times have they ended up trading superstars (famous figures) from the team when they were the heart of it, when they gave everything for the Black & Gold: Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Raymond Bourque (to name a few)… and then, and this is the height of ingratitude, never offered them an important position in the organization, in management?
And of the last Stanley Cup conquest, which player is the current management part of? Chris Kelly. Admit that it is very poor when we remember Chara, Bergeron, Krejci, McQuade, Norton, Campbell and Thornton. Legacy is very important and when a team has a legacy as enviable as that of the BRUINS, why not make good use of it or worse, why systematically abandon it?
So, trade Marchy? Of course not! He is certainly not responsible for the team's failures and instability. Pasta and him are the two best players on the BRUINS. He is totally dedicated to the team. Marchy is a veteran that any young rookie would want to have on the bench by their side.
Definitely a situation to follow. Reminds me of the Bourque trade to Colorado that ended up winning him a cup. Marchand's won a cup already but it could be a similar situation depending on all the variables falling into place. With that said… I think he's staying with Boston.
Good video
If the Bs trade Marchand they would get eviscerated by the fans. No way that is happening.
No, they should move on from Frederic and Lohrei, both have improved lately, especially Lohrei, but we could get a couple picks for them, which is what we need right now, since we have no prospects at all other than Lysell and Merkulov
I think if he goes, he goes because he wants to chase a Cup and the Bruins accede to his request. I just don't see them pulling the trigger otherwise unless the haul is otherworldly, and even then I bet they at least discuss it with him. The trade-then-sign idea is intriguing but there are a LOT of moving parts to that and a lot of places it could fall apart. Ultimately, I think Marchand re-signs, perhaps in Bergeron-esque fashion with low base salary and bonuses/incentives built in to mitigate his immediate cap hit. He's 36, so right around the age that Bergeron was taking those deals. Maybe he can find a suitor at $3 mil – $3.5 mil a year, but for what term? He's already not the player he once was. A team-friendly deal with some term in Boston sounds like the best option for both parties.
Also, I can't imagine him in another sweater, so maybe I'm just projecting a little.
