The San Diego Gulls fell short in a high-scoring thriller against the Calgary Wranglers, losing 7-5 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Gulls came out strong with a 2-0 lead in the first period, highlighted by goals from Carson Meyer and Tristan Luneau. Despite extending their lead early in the second, Calgary roared back with four goals, including two power-play tallies, to take control. San Diego kept battling, with Sasha Pastujov and Ryan Carpenter adding late goals, but Calgary’s Martin Frk sealed the win with an empty-netter. Tristan Luneau had a standout night with a goal and three assists, while Calgary’s Sam Morton earned first-star honors with a goal and two assists. The Gulls outshot the Wranglers 35-27 but couldn’t capitalize on their lone power-play opportunity.
